From March 14-19, 2016, designer Cong Tri will surprise Vietnamese fashion lovers by announcing that the next destination for his annual Haute Couture collection - No. 9 - will not be Vietnam as usual, but Tokyo Fashion Week 2016 – one of the four most prestigious and high-class fashion weeks in the world.

Known as one of the leading names in the Vietnamese fashion design industry, Cong Tri has achieved numerous accomplishments and prestigious fashion awards both domestically and internationally since 2001. Despite working in the bustling and vibrant fashion industry, Cong Tri maintains a remarkably calm and composed lifestyle and work ethic, reflecting his own personality. At the end of 2015, Cong Tri was honored with the "Men of the Decade" award by a prestigious domestic magazine.

Compared to previous years, 2015 was considered a relatively quiet year for Cong Tri, but only in the media. In reality, he still participated in many fashion and art projects. The project that consumed the most effort and time during the year was designing the performance costumes for all the characters in the Lonah Show, the first Las Vegas-style mixed entertainment show in Vietnam combining circus acts and various art forms. He spent most of the year traveling to Las Vegas to learn from similar shows.

The project involves designing performance costumes for all the characters in the Lonah Show.

In addition, Cong Tri continued to serve as a judge in two prestigious fashion shows: Aquafina Pure Fashion and Project Runway – Vietnam's Next Top Designer 2015. He also served as the official costume designer for the reality TV show So You Think You Can Dance.

Last December, Cong Tri officially introduced the KINConcept ready-to-wear line for women to fashion enthusiasts, following the successful launch and establishment of his men's line. "For me personally, this is a long-term investment in the fashion business, alongside my personal artistic projects which I will definitely continue to pursue in the future," the designer shared.

From the perspective of Vietnam's number one designer, he believes that creative people don't necessarily need a constant flow of ideas. Although creatives are constantly under pressure to innovate, to have new ideas, and to always "chase" trends, professional creators actually need moments of "reflection" to produce truly valuable and innovative pieces that will not disappoint themselves or their audience. Further explaining this, he confided, "I always want people to be truly surprised by my new collections, so perhaps the calm before a storm is actually interesting and necessary?"

From March 14-19, 2016, Cong Tri will be the sole and official representative of Vietnam at Tokyo Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2016, part of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week – Tokyo and the Asian Fashion Meets Tokyo series of events, with his Collection No. 9. In addition to his individual fashion and art projects, Cong Tri presents a Haute Couture collection to the public each year. Last year, his Collection No. 8 was showcased at Vietnam International Fashion Week 2014, where he was a Senior Member of the Asian Fashion Association.

With the achievements he has made over more than 15 years in the fashion industry, Cong Tri shared that it all boils down to two words: "responsibility." "The secret to my success, for me, is responsibility. Responsibility to the team of colleagues and collaborators who have always supported and accompanied me, responsibility to the audience and the professionals who have empathized with my creations and ideas, responsibility to the younger generation of creatives in the country who, to some extent, see me as a role model and a goal to strive for. Above all, I have a responsibility to my name, to what I have achieved in the present, to continue working and striving."
