"Over the past week, we've spoken with healthcare workers, the facilities where they work, and even their families and friends, and found that they particularly need our sandals to make their feet more comfortable while working, and also to make personal hygiene easier and more convenient before going home to their families," said Andrew Rees, CEO of Crocs.
Crocs (CROX) sandals are made from a molded polymer similar to rubber. They are waterproof and can be easily washed, which is an advantage now that people need to take special precautions due to the spread of the coronavirus.
Healthcare workers wear Crocs.
Crocs said it is shipping some shipments directly to hospitals and other healthcare facilities, and is allowing healthcare workers to register for free sandals by visiting the brand's website. Crocs said it will continue giving away sandals as long as it has them available.
"The timing of our slipper donations will depend on our inventory and the number of requests we receive," Rees said. "These healthcare workers always receive our deepest respect and we are eager to fulfill their requests and provide them with whatever we can during this unprecedentedly difficult time."
