Wild sunflowers - small sun lights up the highlands
Wild sunflowers have many names, some places call them chrysanthemums, mountain sunflowers, wild sunflowers... they are a genus of the Asteraceae family, originating from Mexico. Traveling halfway around the world, the first seeds of wild sunflowers have found new lands, choosing hillsides and mountains full of sunshine and wind to grow and flourish. Wild sunflowers are found in many places throughout Vietnam, but perhaps nowhere else are wild sunflowers as colorful and full of vitality as in the Central Highlands with its fertile red-brown basalt. As a flower of the sun, wild sunflowers live in the middle of the vast wilderness, no one plants them, no one fertilizes them, but every September and October they grow strongly and vigorously, as if there is a promise to the plateau: signaling the beginning of the dry season!

The season of wild sunflowers in the Central Highlands, from the porches, the small paths, the mountain passes to the hillsides are covered in a boundless yellow color. The wild sunflowers bloom like small suns, seemingly gathering all the sunlight to show off their colors at once, bursting brightly, warming the mountain town throughout a dry and cold season.
Flowers follow people to the market to start a new day. Flowers follow people to the fields to sow corn and pick tea. Flowers follow children to school. Flowers sway on the backs of mountain girls. Flowers form wreaths for couples to give to each other. Flowers dance with villagers around the fire... In this vast highland, wild sunflowers are a part of life, attached to the soul of every child of the red soil.

This season, from the western districts of Quang Nam to the Central Highlands, from Binh Phuoc to Dak Nong, from Lam Dong through the passes to Gia Lai, up to Kon Tum, to Bien Ho... you can see carpets of wild sunflowers blooming brilliantly yellow.
