“This route is beautiful all year round, with each season having a different look. But November is probably the time that captivates me the most – snow blankets the Jade Dragon Peak, the Blue Moon Valley is emerald green, and the trees on both sides of the road turn a brilliant golden yellow in the afternoon sun,” Linh Jii, owner of the TikTok channel Linh Thích Đi Chơi, begins her story about her trip.
As someone who loves exploring China, Linh decided to embark on a 6-day, 5-night journey through three destinations: Dali, Lijiang, and Shangri-La – places where nature and culture intertwine, creating scenes that resemble a fairytale land.
Having traveled extensively before, she didn't need much time to prepare everything.
Agency: Where time stands still
The first destination on the trip was Dali, a peaceful city nestled beside Erhai Lake, once the capital of the ancient Nanzhao Kingdom. “Dali appeared exactly as in the movie 'Go to Where the Wind Blows' – a gentle and tranquil land,” Linh recounted.
She spent the morning wandering through the ancient city of Dali, where ancient cobblestone streets meander between rows of traditional houses. This ancient city is a vibrant picture, where visitors can clearly feel the slow pace of life of the local people.

Not far from there, Sa Khe Ancient Town offers a different feeling. As one of the important stops on the old Tra Ngua road, this small town evokes memories of bustling trading days. "I was most impressed by Sa Khe Ancient Town; next time I have the chance to come back, I'll stay here longer," Linh said.

Shangrila: A journey to the promised land
While Dali offers a peaceful retreat, Shangri-La opens up a world steeped in Tibetan culture. Here, Linh was particularly impressed by the Songzanlin Monastery, often described as a "miniature Potala" of the region. Its resplendent golden architecture and tranquil atmosphere make visitors feel as if they've stepped into a fairytale. Photographed in traditional Tibetan attire, Linh captured unforgettable moments amidst this magnificent blend of culture and nature.

The following day, the journey began with a visit to the Songtanlin Monastery and the Great Buddha Temple – two sacred structures with ancient, serene beauty. At noon, Linh continued her exploration of Na Pa Lake, a green gem located within the Napahai Nature Reserve at an altitude of 3,270 meters above sea level. The lake's surface is calm like a giant mirror, perfectly reflecting the mountains, hills, and clear blue sky.

In the afternoon, Linh left Shangrila and boarded a bus back to Lijiang. The last rays of sunlight cast a golden glow on the road, bringing to a close a day full of experiences and simultaneously opening up excitement for the beauty of the next destination.
Lijiang: Magnificent beauty at the foot of Jade Dragon Mountain
Returning to Lijiang, Linh was immediately captivated by the city's magnificent yet romantic beauty. The highlight of her trip was conquering Jade Dragon Snow Mountain – the proud symbol of Yunnan province.
After climbing 4,680 meters by cable car and a one-hour hike, Linh stood before a landscape of snow-covered mountains stretching to the horizon. At the foot of the mountain, Lam Nguyet Valley resembled a green gem, where crystal-clear melted ice water meandered through the rocky crevices. The water sparkled in the sunlight, making the scenery here look like something out of a dream.

In the afternoon, Linh enjoyed the "Impressions of Lijiang" show, one of four passionate musical productions by renowned director Zhang Yimou. Staged outdoors on a grand scale, the show made a strong impression by using the majestic Jade Dragon Snow Mountain as a natural backdrop. Each scene seemed to blend seamlessly with nature, creating an experience that was both visually stunning and deeply artistic.

As night falls, the ancient town of Lijiang glows with red lanterns reflecting on the small canals. Linh spent the evening strolling around, enjoying local cuisine, sipping coffee, and appreciating the peaceful beauty of a land where nature and people have together created a masterpiece.
Memorable experiences and tips from a TikToker
Linh shared that, despite the 6-day trip, she didn't feel tired. The sunny weather throughout the trip was a stroke of luck, but she also emphasized the importance of Google Translate when she doesn't know Chinese, which helped her communicate more easily.
With her extensive travel experience, Linh shared: "Because I've traveled to many places before, preparing for a trip isn't too complicated for me. If I feel like it, I just pack my bags and go. However, for those visiting for the first time, consulting articles and sharing on social media will save time and help you prepare better. If you want something simple and comfortable, you can also choose to go on a tour where everything is taken care of."

Linh also didn't forget to suggest some of the special dishes from the trip. Rose-shaped cakes in Dali are a lovely and unique souvenir to bring back, while yak beef hot pot in Shangrila is a must-try dish with its tender, fresh, and flavorful beef.
According to Linh, Dali, Lijiang, and Shangri-La are ideal destinations for everyone, from those who love peace and quiet to adventurous explorers. For around 13 million VND, you can have a great, affordable trip and experience the stunning beauty of these regions. Each destination offers its own unique charm, and you're sure to find a part of yourself amidst the majestic and peaceful landscapes.
