To meet the anticipated increase in travel demand during the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2nd, Hanoi Metro Company Limited (Hanoi Metro) has announced significant adjustments to the train schedules for both lines: Line 2A Cat Linh - Ha Dong and Line 3 Nho Son - Hanoi Station.
Specifically, on August 21st, 24th, 27th, and 29th, trains will start running at 5:30 AM and finish later than usual, at midnight. This extended operating time of two hours will accommodate passengers attending evening events or returning late. During peak hours, trains will operate every 6-10 minutes, while during extended periods, the frequency will be every 10 minutes.
Hanoi Metro has just announced a plan to adjust the train schedule for the Cat Linh-Ha Dong and Nho Son-Hanoi Station urban railway lines to serve the travel needs of people during the September 2nd holiday.
This demonstrates Hanoi Metro's proactive approach in meeting transportation needs, reducing congestion on roads, and encouraging people to use public transport. The flexibility in adjusting schedules not only saves people time but also helps minimize traffic jams, creating a smoother and safer travel environment during major holidays.
Specifically, on August 21st, 24th, 27th, and 29th, 2025, trains will run from 5:30 AM to 12:00 AM (an extension of 2 hours compared to normal). Trains will run every 6-10 minutes, with a 10-minute interval during the extended hours.
A highlight of the holiday service plan is the special train schedule on National Day, September 2nd. Urban railway lines will operate continuously from midnight on September 1st to 10 PM on September 2nd. This is a significant effort to best serve people's overnight travel needs, especially those planning to attend National Day celebrations. However, Hanoi Metro also notes that, to ensure technical and safety conditions, train services will be temporarily suspended between 3:10 AM and 4:30 AM.
On August 30th, operating hours are from 5 AM to 10 PM. The frequency is 6 minutes per trip during the 5 AM - 8 AM timeframe; and 10 minutes per trip during other timeframes.
The train frequency on this particular day has also been flexibly adjusted. During peak hours such as 4:30-7:30 AM and 11:00-2:30 PM, the frequency will be 6 minutes per trip, allowing passengers to travel more quickly and conveniently. During other hours, trains will run at a frequency of 10 minutes per trip. This adjustment demonstrates Hanoi Metro's careful planning to balance meeting travel demand and optimizing operational efficiency.
On September 1st, operating hours will be from 5:30 AM to midnight (extended by 2 hours compared to usual). Buses will be spaced evenly at 10-minute intervals throughout the day.
With significant schedule adjustments, Hanoi Metro has issued a warning to passengers. The company encourages people to proactively plan their journeys, monitor information on official communication channels to get the latest updates, and avoid unnecessary inconvenience. At the same time, following the instructions of service staff at the stations is also crucial to ensuring a safe and convenient journey.
According to Hanoi Metro's leadership, this adjustment to the train schedule is not only an operational plan but also demonstrates the company's proactive efforts to serve the people and tourists during important national holidays. This is a positive move, contributing to affirming the increasingly important role of urban rail in the capital's public transportation system, while strengthening people's confidence in a modern and sustainable transportation future.
