According to data from the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, during the Lunar New Year holiday, from February 8 to 14, the country's tourism industry welcomed about 10.5 million domestic visitors, an increase of 16.6% over the same period in 2023.
Of which, there are about 3.5 million overnight guests, an increase of 75% over the same period in 2023, the average room occupancy rate is estimated at 45-50% in the tourist accommodation system. In particular, 4-5 star high-end tourist accommodation facilities in some key tourist localities have higher occupancy rates, concentrated on the 3rd and 4th days of Tet.
According to some travel and tourism businesses, the trend of booking Tet tours this year prioritizes quality, customers book early to receive incentives and no longer expect cheap prices.
Saigontourist Travel said it is estimated to have welcomed a total of more than 28,000 domestic and international tourists joining Tet and spring tours. This number achieved a growth rate of 20% compared to the same period last year.
The national tourism industry welcomed about 10.5 million domestic visitors during the Lunar New Year.
Similarly, Vietravel also welcomed about 139,000 visitors, with the occupancy rate reaching over 92%... Some other businesses were also excited to increase the number of departure tours compared to the plan.
Notably, international tourism has witnessed a recovery in cruise ship passengers. Some localities with international seaports have organized to welcome cruise ship tourists during Tet such as Quang Ninh welcoming Zhao Shang Yi Dun with 600 Chinese tourists; Da Nang welcoming Zhao Shang Yi Dun and Dream Cruise with about 3,400 tourists.
In Ho Chi Minh City, cruise tourism also welcomed many ships in the new year such as Europa, Seabourn Encore, Celebrity Cruises with thousands of multinational guests...
Positive signals from cruise tourism show a year of recovery for this important international tourist stream, including visitors from the traditional Chinese market.
More than 5.5 million domestic flight tickets
Also according to the assessment of the Department of Tourism, this year's Tet season, domestic airlines are estimated to supply about 5.5 million tickets on the entire domestic flight network, an increase of 4% over the same period in 2023 and an increase of 69% over normal days.
Tourism activities in the first days of the new year of Giap Thin 2024 are assessed to take place quite smoothly, with almost no congestion or overload at destinations.
Security and order at destinations are stable; price posting, selling at the correct listed price, and ensuring food hygiene and safety are fully implemented.
