With a seven-day Tet holiday and favorable weather, tourism activities were vibrant and bustling at most tourist destinations across the country.
The number of guests has increased sharply.
According to data from the Vietnam National Tourism Administration, during the Lunar New Year holiday, from February 8th to 14th, the country's tourism industry welcomed approximately 10.5 million domestic tourists, an increase of 16.6% compared to the same period in 2023.
This includes approximately 3.5 million overnight visitors, a 75% increase compared to the same period in 2023, with an average occupancy rate estimated at 45-50% across tourist accommodation establishments. In particular, high-end 4-5 star accommodations in some key tourist destinations achieved higher occupancy rates, especially on the 3rd and 4th days of the Lunar New Year.
According to several travel and tourism businesses, the trend in booking Tet holiday tours this year prioritizes quality, with customers booking early to receive discounts rather than expecting the cheapest prices.
Saigontourist Travel Agency estimates it will welcome a total of over 28,000 domestic and international tourists participating in Tet holiday and spring travel tours. This figure represents a 20% increase compared to the same period last year.
The tourism industry nationwide welcomed approximately 10.5 million domestic tourists during the Lunar New Year holiday.
Similarly, Vietravel also welcomed approximately 139,000 customers, with an occupancy rate exceeding 92%... Several other businesses also enthusiastically increased the number of tours departing compared to their initial plans.
Notably, international tourism witnessed a recovery in cruise ship passenger traffic. Several localities with international seaports organized celebrations for cruise tourists during the Lunar New Year holiday, such as Quang Ninh welcoming the Zhao Shang Yi Dun cruise ship with 600 Chinese passengers; and Da Nang welcoming the Zhao Shang Yi Dun and Dream Cruise with approximately 3,400 passengers.
In Ho Chi Minh City, cruise tourism also welcomed many cruise ships in the new year, such as Europa, Seabourn Encore, and Celebrity Cruises, with thousands of multinational passengers...
Positive signals from cruise tourism indicate a promising year of recovery for this important international tourist segment, including visitors from the traditional Chinese market.
Over 5.5 million domestic airline tickets
According to the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, domestic airlines are estimated to provide approximately 5.5 million tickets across their entire domestic network during this year's Tet holiday, a 4% increase compared to the same period in 2023 and a 69% increase compared to normal days.
Tourism activities during the first days of the Lunar New Year of the Dragon 2024 were assessed as going quite smoothly, with almost no congestion or overcrowding at destinations.
The security and order situation at the destinations is stable; the posting of prices, selling at the posted prices, and ensuring food safety and hygiene are fully implemented.
Environmental sanitation efforts ensure cleanliness, creating a safe, green, clean, and beautiful tourism image at tourist areas and destinations nationwide.
