Although Batur is still an active volcano, it has long since ceased erupting. Located 30 km from the center of Ubud, Batur is situated in Kintamani – a small town with many famous landmarks such as the Besakih Temple and Kintamani village. During the tourist season, Kintamani is bustling with buses from early morning until late at night. These buses take visitors to watch the sunrise or sunset, and admire the ethereal plumes of smoke rising from the majestic Batur volcano.
At approximately 1,700 meters high, Batur is considered the most sacred mountain in Bali. Locals believe that gods reside on its summit, and they place their faith in the temple at its foot.
"The journey to conquer Mount Batur at 3 AM was not easy, but it was well worth it," Quang Vinh shared.
