Resort accommodations are fully booked, and island tours are in high demand.
Ms. Vu Thi Huong Giang, manager of Alma Resort (Bai Dai Beach, Cam Ranh City), said that from now until the end of July, the resort will have an occupancy rate of about 95%, with villa rooms almost fully booked.
"This summer, the resort is experiencing a surge in bookings. Besides those purchasing vacation apartments, there are also individual guests who made reservations in advance. Domestic tourists still make up the majority, but there have been many groups of visitors from countries like South Korea, Australia, and India coming for vacation. During this period, the resort has to operate at full capacity to serve guests, and the number of staff has been increased to over 670 people since the beginning of May," Ms. Giang said.
High-end marine tourism products such as yachts and sailboats are also popular with many tourists.
Similarly, resorts in Bai Dai such as The Anam, Movenpick Cam Ranh, and other beachfront hotels in Nha Trang all achieved high occupancy rates during this period.
According to Mr. Tran Van Phu, head of the Nha Trang tourist boat terminal, in recent weeks, the number of tourists taking sea and island tours in Nha Trang Bay has been very high, with approximately 4,000 visitors per day. On weekends, this number can reach 6,000-7,000 visitors per day.
"The fleet of tourist boats and canoes is operating at almost full capacity to meet demand. Tourists mainly take tours to the three islands of Hon Mun and Hon Tam, as well as the fishing village, Bai Tranh beach, Coral Bay, and Hon Soi island… After the order to temporarily suspend scuba diving at Hon Mun, tourists have shifted their focus to scuba diving at Bai Tranh beach and Coral Bay," Mr. Phu informed.
Similarly, from June until now, Hon Tam tourist area has welcomed approximately 75,000 visitors. The two tourist areas of Hoa Lan Island and Monkey Island also attract a large number of tourists, with about 1,000 visitors per day, and 1,200-1,300 visitors on weekends.
Many new tourism products for the summer
Mr. Tran Minh Duc, chairman of the Khanh Hoa Tourism Association, said that sea and island tours have always been a strength of the province every summer, and this summer in particular, there are many high-end beach resort products associated with yachts and sailboats.
Cruise ships like Emperor, Horizon, Sea Coral, and Catamaran sailboats all offer tours to admire the beauty of Nha Trang Bay and Nha Phu Lagoon. In particular, sunset tours at Nha Phu Lagoon attract a large number of tourists. Recently, the Provincial People's Committee also approved a location for Sealife Group Co., Ltd. to pilot the operation of overnight tourist accommodation vessels in Nha Trang Bay.
Mr. Nguyen Dinh Viet, director of Catamaran sailing yacht business, said: "The number of bookings for sailing tours has increased by about 40% compared to before Tet (Lunar New Year). The summer season offers sunny weather, stable winds, and waves, which customers really enjoy. Younger tourists tend to choose daytime tours, while older tourists prefer sunset tours. Customers have more control over their time and location at sea, and additional activities such as light refreshments on board, snorkeling, and water sports are also popular choices."
Tourists can experience adventurous travel with paragliding.
Representatives from Hon En Adventure Sports Tourism Co., Ltd. also announced that this summer they will be launching a paragliding spot at Hon En (Vinh Phuong commune), an attractive adventure sports tourism product. Tourists can participate in tandem paragliding with an instructor to ensure safety; the price for Vietnamese citizens is 2 million VND and for foreigners is 2.5 million VND.
According to Mr. Duc, many tourism businesses have also exploited ecotourism, heritage tourism, cultural tourism, adventure tourism, etc. Recently, the Khanh Hoa Tourism Association launched the tour "Following in the footsteps of Doctor A. Yersin," where tourists will visit the destinations where the French doctor once lived and worked.
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Le Thanh, Director of the Department of Tourism, in the first six months of 2022, the total number of visitors to Khanh Hoa reached over 1 million, an increase of 128.6% compared to the same period last year; achieving 87.2% of the 2022 plan. In June alone, the province welcomed approximately 350,000 visitors, including about 13,000 international tourists. Tourism revenue for the first six months is estimated at nearly 5,550 billion VND.
"The large number of tourists visiting Khanh Hoa signals the recovery and growth of tourism. From June to August, the locality will have a series of programs as part of the 'Nha Trang - Welcoming Summer' event series to serve and attract tourists. The Department will also finalize the Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa Tourism and Culture Handbook to serve the province's tourism promotion and advertising efforts," Ms. Thanh said.
