Due to the Covid-19 pandemic situation in Vietnam, Tuyen Quang province recently decided to temporarily suspend the 2020 Thanh Tuyen Mid-Autumn Festival. Accordingly, the People's Committee of Tuyen Quang province issued a document to local departments and agencies requesting the temporary suspension of the festival to focus on implementing Covid-19 prevention and control measures and achieving socio-economic development goals for the end of 2020.
This year's Thanh Tuyen Festival will not be held due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.
According to the planned schedule, the 2020 Thanh Tuyen Festival and the ceremony to receive the UNESCO certificate of inscription for "Then ritual practices of the Tay, Nung, and Thai people in Vietnam" are expected to take place from September 25-26 (August 9-10 in the lunar calendar) with unique cultural and artistic activities such as exhibitions of the Tay, Nung, and Thai Then ritual heritage of Vietnam and distinctive local products, and displays and introductions of Tuyen Quang's unique products and tourism products,...
The event is expected to be attended by representatives from 11 neighboring provinces, aiming to further promote to the people of Vietnam and internationally the image of the land, people, and cultural heritage values of Tuyen Quang, especially the unique historical and cultural values of this revolutionary homeland.
In recent years, the Thanh Tuyen Festival has attracted a large number of visitors from all over the country.
The Thanh Tuyen Festival is a unique and distinctive Mid-Autumn Festival of Tuyen Quang province, held annually. The highlight of the festival is the giant Mid-Autumn lanterns, handcrafted by residents of various neighborhoods and paraded through the streets. These giant lanterns are based on historical stories, folk legends, and the practical realities of people's lives and work throughout different historical periods.
Over the past 10 years, the festival has consistently attracted a large number of visitors from all over the country due to its unique cultural and religious activities.
