Vietnam Festival 2014 in Japan

The Vietnam Festival Organizing Committee has officially announced plans to hold the Vietnam Festival 2014 from September 13-14 at Yoyogi Park in Tokyo, Japan.

With the theme Hand in hand, this year's Festival is considered an opportunity to strengthen the friendship between the people of Vietnam and Japan.

At the press conference at the Vietnamese Embassy, ​​Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan Doan Xuan Hung, co-head of the Vietnam Festival organizing committee, highly appreciated the efforts of the organizing committee, individuals and units of the two countries contributing to the success of the 2013 Festival on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The Ambassador hopes that the Vietnam Festival 2014, which is also the 7th festival, will continue to be a success, making an important contribution to the close relationship between the governments and people of Vietnam and Japan.

Former Senator, Co-Chair of the Vietnam Festival Organizing Committee, Mr. Matsuda Iwao said that the Vietnam Festival 2014 will continue to be a familiar destination for Japanese people and Vietnamese people living and working in Japan to have the opportunity to meet and exchange.

According to him, the most wonderful thing is that the Vietnam Festivals have created close ties between the governments and people of the two countries.

As planned, this year's Festival will take place over two days, September 13-14, and will be open from 10:00 to 20:00 daily.

Coming to the festival, visitors have the opportunity to enjoy Vietnamese culinary flavors, cultural programs, music, and art performances imbued with national identity.

According to the Organizing Committee, this year's festival will have 98 booths, including 49 food stalls and 49 booths displaying goods and handicrafts. The most special feature of this year's festival is the unique water puppet show performed by traditional Vietnamese puppeteers.

With elaborate preparations, the water puppet show promises to make a strong impression on visitors, especially as this is the first time this art form has been performed in Japan.

The organizers hope that the Vietnam Festival 2014 will attract 150,000 visitors, an increase of 20,000 visitors compared to last year.
