22/04/2020

As of the morning of April 22, Vietnam has recorded 6 consecutive days without new Covid-19 infections. Accordingly, representatives of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, Hanoi Railway Company, and Hanoi Transport Association jointly proposed to resume operations from April 23.

On April 21, the Civil Aviation Authority reported to the Ministry of Transport the plan to operate domestic flights from April 23 to 30. Accordingly, the Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City route is expected to have 20 round-trip flights per day. Of which, Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet Air - 6 flights each; Jetstar Pacific, Bamboo Airways - 4 flights each. Currently, the airlines are operating 6 flights per day.

For flights from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to Da Nang and vice versa, the Civil Aviation Authority proposed that Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet Air be allocated three flights per day each. Bamboo Airways and Jetstar Pacific are allocated two flights per day. Currently, these routes only operate two flights per day.

The Civil Aviation Authority also proposed allowing airlines to operate one flight per day from Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City to other localities; the Ho Chi Minh City - Con Dao route alone is four flights per day.

For flights between localities other than Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, each airline has one flight per day.

Currently, the Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City railway line only operates two pairs of Thong Nhat trains with numbers SE3/SE4 and SE5/SE6.

On April 21, the Chairman of the Hanoi Transport Association also sent a document requesting that passenger cars, buses and taxis gradually resume operations with conditions ensuring seat spacing, measuring passenger body temperature and disinfecting vehicles.

Specifically, the Hanoi Transport Association proposed that contract vehicles transporting workers and inner-city buses be allowed to operate, ensuring seat spacing, disinfection, and body temperature measurement. For inter-provincial fixed-route passenger buses, bus stations should study and propose the number of vehicles, frequency, and register to operate according to certain time frames.

Taxis with the Hanoi Taxi badge and contract vehicles with less than 9 seats are also recommended to operate on the condition that they do not move to other localities, ensure seat spacing, disinfection, and body temperature measurement. Truck taxis and freight vehicles operate normally, avoiding areas with isolated outbreaks.

Currently, the operation of passenger cars, contract cars and taxis in Hanoi is still completely banned because the city is in the group of localities with high risk of infection and must continue to comply with Directive 16 of the Prime Minister.
