Many hotels and homestays in Ha Giang are reporting that they are fully booked due to the increasing number of visitors during the final days of the Lunar New Year holiday in 2025.

Ha Giang, the northernmost land of Vietnam, with its pristine and majestic beauty, has long been an attractive destination for both domestic and international tourists. Particularly during the recent Lunar New Year (Year of the Snake), Ha Giang witnessed a dramatic surge in tourists, reaching an impressive number of over 150,000.

The picturesque mountain scenery is captivating to anyone.

During Tet (Lunar New Year), Ha Giang becomes more vibrant and lively than ever. Tourists can not only admire the beautiful natural scenery but also immerse themselves in the festive atmosphere, experience traditional customs and enjoy the region's specialties.

The sudden surge in tourist numbers has led to many hotels and guesthouses in Ha Giang being fully booked. Many tourists have struggled to find accommodation, even having to stay with locals or opt for small, simple homestays.

According to the Ha Giang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, this year saw a record high number of visitors to the province during the Tet holiday, especially from the second day of Tet. According to their statistics, from the 26th day of the 12th lunar month to the 4th day of Tet, the total number of tourists visiting Ha Giang reached nearly 150,000, including over 7,000 foreign visitors. Total tourism revenue is estimated at 353.8 billion VND.

The influx of visitors in the early days of the year is expected to signal a year of tourism growth for Ha Giang.

In Dong Van town (Dong Van district), accommodation was fully booked on the 3rd and 4th days of Tet (Lunar New Year). Similarly, Meo Vac district, a popular tourist destination, also experienced a shortage of rooms. According to the owner of a homestay in Meo Vac town, guests had been calling to book rooms continuously since the 2nd day of Tet. However, all accommodations, from large to small, were fully booked until around the 6th day of Tet.

However, the high demand for accommodations also demonstrates the growing appeal of tourism in Ha Giang. This is a positive sign, indicating that the province's tourism industry is developing strongly and contributing to the local socio-economic development.

To meet the growing demands of tourists, Ha Giang needs to continue investing in and upgrading its tourism infrastructure, expanding service types, and diversifying tourism products. At the same time, it is crucial to focus on preserving and promoting traditional cultural values and protecting the natural landscape to ensure sustainable tourism development in Ha Giang. Hopefully, in the future, Ha Giang will continue to be an attractive destination for tourists, not only during Tet (Lunar New Year) but throughout the year.
