The pilot pedestrian street section from the old gate of the Son Tay Town People's Committee headquarters (Pho Duc Chinh Street) to Cua Tien Bridge (intersection of Quang Trung - Nguyen Thai Hoc Streets). With a length of 820 m, the pedestrian street includes: Pho Duc Chinh - Phan Chu Trinh Street, the walking street outside Son Tay Ancient Citadel, the town's central flower garden, the square in the central flower garden area, the front yard of the town's Cultural Center area, and the town's stadium square.
The construction of the Son Tay Ancient Citadel walking street aims to create a space for entertainment, culture, and tourism for residents and visitors, while promoting the value of the Son Tay Ancient Citadel relic, connecting with other tourist attractions in the area. Here, Son Tay town will organize culinary services, introduce souvenirs, and local specialties. Families in this area can still open their businesses to sell existing items.
Residents and visitors can also experience and enjoy contemporary art performances, street music, folk dancing, portrait painting, sketching, calligraphy, boat racing, fishing, water puppetry, etc. In addition, exhibitions of paintings, photos, book, newspaper, magazine introductions or recreational activities for youth and children are also held here.

According to Mr. Nguyen Huy Khanh, Chairman of Son Tay Town People's Committee, up to now, the units have completed all the work of beautifying the sidewalks, painting and marking the streets around the Citadel and some streets near the walking street's operating area, completed the installation of information signs and direction signs around the Citadel moat, and deployed the installation of miniature fences.
Son Tay Citadel is the fourth pedestrian space in Hanoi to be established, after Hoan Kiem Lake pedestrian street, Hanoi Old Quarter pedestrian street and Trinh Cong Son Street pedestrian street. In the near future, Hanoi City plans to open a number of other pedestrian spaces in the districts in the area.
