The first Vietnamese airline to launch a direct flight to Italy.

From July 1st next year, Vietnam will have a new option to explore the beautiful country of Italy. Vietnam Airlines officially launches a direct flight from Hanoi to Milan, the fashion and cultural center of Italy. With this route, the national airline becomes the first and only Vietnamese airline to operate direct flights to Italy.

Accordingly, Vietnam Airlines will use wide-body Boeing 787 aircraft to operate this route. The frequency will be three round-trip flights per week, departing on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.

To celebrate the launch of the new route, Vietnam Airlines is offering attractive promotional round-trip fares starting from VND 14.8 million (including taxes and fees) for travel between July 1, 2025 and July 31, 2025; and from VND 17.325 million (including taxes and fees) for travel between August 1, 2025 and December 31, 2025. This offer is valid for tickets purchased from now until November 12, 2024.

The Hanoi-Milan route will bring the total number of direct routes to Europe operated by the airline to nine. Currently, Vietnam Airlines is the only airline in Vietnam operating direct flights between Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Paris (France), Frankfurt (Germany), and London (UK). In early October, the airline will launch a direct route between Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Munich (Germany).

Vietnam Airlines hopes that this event will not only attract customers from Italy, but also connect customers from other European countries. According to the airline's statistics, European routes are showing good recovery after the pandemic and are exhibiting positive growth trends. "This event affirms our efforts to expand our flight network, connecting Vietnam with the world and providing more travel options for passengers," a representative of the airline stated.

Vietnam and Italy have had diplomatic relations for over 50 years (1973-2024) and a Strategic Partnership for 11 years (2013-2024). Currently, Vietnam is Italy's largest trading partner in ASEAN, and Italy is Vietnam's fourth largest trading partner in the European Union (EU), with bilateral trade turnover continuously increasing over the years.
