Speaking at the working session, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ho An Phong emphasized the traditional values, antiquity, and long history of the ancient capital with its cultural, landscape, and architectural values that have created the Hue tourism brand - a key point on the national tourism map.
According to the Deputy Minister, hosting the National Tourism Year 2025 requires Thua Thien Hue to set higher goals, build more unique products, add more experience spaces for tourists, promote tourism brands and attract domestic and foreign tourists.
This is not only an opportunity to promote local culture and tourism but also an important contribution to the goal of turning Thua Thien Hue into a centrally-run city by 2025.
Presenting the Draft Project on Organizing the National Tourism Year - Hue 2025, Director of the Department of Tourism of Thua Thien Hue Nguyen Van Phuc said that the National Tourism Year - Hue 2025 is a typical cultural - economic - social and tourism event of national and international scale combined with the Hue Festival 2025, associated with the 50th anniversary of the liberation of Thua Thien - Hue homeland (March 26, 1975 - March 26, 2025) and other major celebrations of the whole country; responding to and welcoming Hue to become a city directly under the Central Government.
The event aims to introduce and promote tangible and intangible cultural values, resources and unique tourism products of Vietnam in general and Thua Thien Hue province in particular; attract domestic and international tourists, create a breakthrough in tourism development, and contribute to promoting the socio-economic development of the province.
National Tourism Year - Hue 2025 will strongly promote tourism development linkages between localities across the country to promote strengths and potentials to develop tourism in the region as well as inter-regionally, contributing to enhancing the image, position and brand of Vietnamese tourism in general and Thua Thien Hue in particular in the following years.
The National Tourism Year and Hue Festival 2025 are expected to include 62 main programs and events. The highlight will be the opening ceremony of the National Tourism Year combined with the opening of the Hue Festival and the fireworks display to celebrate the 50th Liberation Day of Thua Thien Hue. The event is expected to be held at the end of March 2025 in Hue city.
This event marks a new step in promoting the image of Vietnamese tourism to the world and at the same time creates momentum for local socio-economic development.
At the meeting, highly appreciating Thua Thien Hue's initiative in proposing to host the National Tourism Year 2025, Director of the Vietnam National Tourism Administration Nguyen Trung Khanh said that this is the second time Hue has hosted the National Tourism Year, after the first time in 2013. The organization of the National Tourism Year has always brought positive impacts, creating a breakthrough growth for localities. The Director suggested that the Thua Thien Hue tourism industry needs to be innovative in ideas, themes as well as activities organized in the National Tourism Year 2025.
Thua Thien Hue also proposed that the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism join in organizing national or international culinary festivals in the locality to create highlights; as well as propaganda and promotion work for the event.
