The 31st World Travel Awards Asia and Oceania 2024 ceremony took place in Manila, Philippines.
Vietnam received 3 awards: “Asia's Leading Destination 2024”, “Asia's Leading Heritage Destination 2024” and “Asia's Leading Nature Destination 2024”. This is the 6th time in the past 7 years that Vietnam has been honored as “Asia's Leading Destination” (in 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024).
Ho Chi Minh City and many other locations in Vietnam have won prestigious awards.
Major cities such as the capital Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City also won a series of awards. Hanoi won the awards for Asia's Leading City Destination and Asia's Leading Resort Destination. Ho Chi Minh City won the awards for Asia's Leading Convention and Exhibition Destination and Asia's Leading Festival and Event Destination 2024.
This year, Vietnam has surpassed many strong candidates to achieve this noble title, namely China, India, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, and Sri Lanka.
At the local level, this year, Ho Chi Minh City continued to win the awards for “Asia’s Leading Business Destination” and “Asia’s Leading Festival and Event Destination”. The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism received the title of “Asia’s Leading City Tourism Management Agency” for the second time. Hanoi continued to be honored in the categories of “Asia’s Leading City Tourism Destination” and “Asia’s Leading Short-Term City Tourism Destination”. The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Nam province was named for the first time in the category of “Asia’s Leading Local Tourism Management Agency”.
Hoi An ancient town was honored to receive the award “Asia’s Leading Cultural City Destination” for the 5th time. Moc Chau, the “Green Pearl”, won the award “Asia’s Leading Local Natural Destination” for the 3rd time in a row. The border province at the head of the country, Ha Giang, was first listed in the category “Asia’s Leading Local Cultural Tourism Destination”. Ha Nam province was first ranked in the category “Asia’s Leading Emerging Tourism Destination”.
Many localities are also honored in the world arena.
Ha Giang, the northernmost province of the country, was named for the first time in the category of “Asia’s Leading Local Cultural Tourism Destination.” Meanwhile, Ha Nam topped the category of “Asia’s Leading Emerging Tourism Destination” for the first time.
In addition, many famous Vietnamese brands in the fields of hotels, resorts, airlines, travel businesses... were also honored in many categories of Asia's top awards 2024.
This success is an affirmation of the attractiveness of our country's increasingly developing tourism industry.
Being continuously honored at the award known as the “Oscar of the Tourism Industry” shows the strong attraction of Vietnam as a destination on the world tourism map.
