The 31st World Travel Awards Asia and Oceania regional awards ceremony in 2024 took place in Manila, Philippines.
Vietnam received three awards: “Asia’s Leading Destination 2024”, “Asia’s Leading Heritage Destination 2024”, and “Asia’s Leading Nature Destination 2024”. This is the sixth time in the past seven years that Vietnam has been honored as “Asia’s Leading Destination” (in 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024).
Ho Chi Minh City and many other locations in Vietnam have excelled in winning prestigious awards.
Major cities like Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City also won numerous awards. Hanoi won the awards for Asia's Leading City Destination and Asia's Leading Resort Destination. Ho Chi Minh City won the awards for Asia's Leading Convention Tourism Destination and Asia's Leading Festival and Events Destination in 2024.
This year, Vietnam beat many strong contenders to win this prestigious title, including China, India, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, and Sri Lanka.
At the local level, this year, Ho Chi Minh City continued to win the awards for “Asia’s Leading Business Travel Destination” and “Asia’s Leading Festival and Event Destination”. The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism received the title of “Asia’s Leading City Tourism Management Agency” for the second time. Hanoi continued to be honored in the categories of “Asia’s Leading City Tourism Destination” and “Asia’s Leading City for Short-Term Holidays”. The Quang Nam Provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism was named for the first time in the category of “Asia’s Leading Local Tourism Management Agency”.
For the fifth time, the ancient town of Hoi An proudly received the "Leading Cultural City Destination in Asia" award. Moc Chau, the "Green Gem," won the "Leading Local Nature Destination in Asia" award for the third consecutive time. Ha Giang, the border province at the northernmost point of Vietnam, was named for the first time in the "Leading Local Cultural Tourism Destination in Asia" category. Ha Nam province topped the "Leading Emerging Tourism Destination in Asia" category for the first time.
Many localities have also been honored on the world stage.
