The Hue Imperial Citadel complex will be open to visitors free of charge on the occasion of the September 2nd holiday.

On the occasion of Vietnam's Independence Day on September 2nd, the Hue Imperial City Relics Conservation Center organized many special activities at the historical sites to serve local people and tourists visiting the area.

To celebrate National Day on September 2nd, Hue city is ablaze with vibrant colors and a variety of cultural and sporting activities. According to the Thua Thien Hue Provincial Department of Tourism, visitors will not only be immersed in the festive atmosphere but also have the opportunity to fully explore the ancient beauty of the former imperial capital with free entry to historical sites on September 2nd. This promises to be a memorable holiday for both locals and tourists from near and far.

The following historical sites within the Hue Imperial Citadel complex will offer free admission to Vietnamese citizens and tourists on September 2nd: the Hue Imperial Citadel, Gia Long Tomb, Minh Mang Tomb, Tu Duc Tomb, Thieu Tri Tomb, Dong Khanh Tomb, An Dinh Palace, Hon Chen Palace, and the Hue Royal Antiquities Museum…

Free admission to the sites will be open from 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM on September 2nd, 2023. To facilitate visitor flow, the Hue Ancient Citadel Conservation Center requests that visitors bring their national identity cards when visiting the historical sites.

Thua Thien Hue province is organizing several cultural and sports activities, such as: the 5th "Hue Jogging - Running for the Community" program, themed "Hue is always new" (held on September 1st at the Provincial Administrative Urban Area Square); the 35th traditional boat race of Thua Thien Hue province on the Perfume River (September 2nd); and art performances on the Imperial Citadel pedestrian street on weekend nights.

Resort hotels in Hue are preparing special culinary feasts, showcasing the rich flavors of the ancient capital. Visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy traditional dishes exquisitely prepared by talented chefs, along with the chance to discover exquisite royal teas. In addition, many restaurants are organizing cooking classes so that guests can prepare their favorite dishes themselves.

According to information from the Thua Thien Hue Department of Tourism, the province is expected to welcome approximately 120,000 visitors during this year's National Day holiday (a 22.4% increase compared to the same holiday on September 2nd, 2023).

Hue is expected to welcome 120,000 visitors during the September 2nd holiday.

The projected number of overnight visitors is 48,000 (a 31.3% increase compared to the September 2nd holiday in 2023), including approximately 16,500 international visitors (a 54.3% increase compared to the September 2nd holiday in 2023). The average occupancy rate of hotels is around 64% (on August 31st and September 1st, the occupancy rate of many accommodations reached over 80%; most hotels in the city center of Hue, coastal resorts, lagoon and waterfall hotels, and homestays in Hue city, Phu Loc district and A Luoi district were almost fully booked for these two days).

Furthermore, during the National Day holiday on September 2nd, the Vietnam Railways Corporation is offering discounted fares for both group and individual travelers, so a significant increase in the number of tourists traveling to and from Hue by train is predicted. In addition, Phu Bai International Airport plans to handle 330 flights, transporting approximately 59,400 passengers. The Vietnam Railways Corporation also plans to receive around 13,000 passengers at Hue Station, with approximately 3,500 passengers already registered for the Hue - Da Nang Central Vietnam heritage route during the holiday; trains on this route were fully booked on August 31st and September 2nd.
