During this year's National Day holiday on September 2nd, Hanoi saw a significant increase in tourist numbers. International visitors and tourists from other provinces and cities flocked to several popular tourist destinations within the capital.

According to the Hanoi Department of Tourism, during the four-day National Day holiday on September 2nd, the total number of tourists visiting Hanoi was estimated at nearly 673,000, and total revenue from tourism was estimated at over 2.18 trillion VND.

Specifically, the total number of tourists visiting Hanoi during the recent holiday period is estimated at 672,900, an increase of 5% compared to the same period in 2023. Of these, international tourists are estimated at 58,900, an increase of 35.8% compared to the same period last year (leading markets include India, South Korea, China, Japan, Australia, the US, and the UK). Domestic tourists are estimated at 614,000, an increase of 3.6% compared to the same period last year. Total revenue from tourism is estimated at over 2,180 billion VND, an increase of 8.3% compared to the same period in 2023.

According to the Hanoi Department of Tourism, during this year's National Day holiday on September 2nd, several tourist destinations in Hanoi, such as the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and Museum, the Temple of Literature, the Thang Long Imperial Citadel, Hoan Kiem Lake, and Ngoc Son Temple, saw a significant increase in tourist numbers, including international visitors and tourists from other provinces and cities.

Several key tourist areas and attractions in Hanoi recorded a significant number of visitors, such as Hanoi Zoo with 76,600 visitors, the pedestrian area around Hoan Kiem Lake with approximately 47,000 visitors, Hoa Lo Prison historical site with 28,000 visitors, Son Tay pedestrian street and Son Tay ancient citadel with approximately 15,000 visitors; Ao Vua tourist area with 15,000 visitors; the Museum of Ethnology with 6,500 visitors; and tourist destinations in Gia Lam district (Bat Trang, Kim Lan, Duong Xa, Phu Dong) with approximately 5,000 visitors…

On this occasion, the Hanoi Department of Tourism, in coordination with the Management Board of the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, organized the distribution of 28,000 gifts to visitors to the Mausoleum; thereby demonstrating the affection and responsibility in service, reception, and promotion by each officer, staff member, and soldier. This activity also promotes the political and cultural significance of the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, as well as promoting the image of Hanoi tourism to the people and international tourists.

In addition, the Department of Tourism, in coordination with the Thang Long Hanoi Heritage Conservation Center and the Vietnamese Village Temple Club, organized the "Ao Dai Parade Connecting Tourism with Hanoi Heritage 2024" program, which attracted a large number of tourists and received active participation from officials, civil servants of agencies and units, and people of the capital city, as well as domestic and international tourists.

It is estimated that the average occupancy rate for hotels and tourist apartments in Hanoi reached approximately 61.2% during the four-day holiday, a 1.7% increase compared to the same period in 2023. Some 4-5 star hotels and luxury apartment complexes had particularly high occupancy rates, such as Novotel Thai Ha at 82.3%, Sheraton at 91.3%, and Pullman Hanoi at 99%.

Many programs and festivals celebrating Independence Day were successfully organized, attracting widespread attention from locals and tourists. Tourist destinations and businesses in Hanoi have strengthened their efforts to welcome tourists, ensuring security and order, traffic safety, food safety and hygiene, environmental hygiene, and promptly meeting the conditions for serving tourists.
