A view of Phuong Hoang Pass in Dak Lak from above.
The 10-day trip truly gave me many impressive experiences, such as watching the fireworks at Dakmil West Lake. What was special was that the fireworks here started at 9 PM, much earlier than in other places, so that people could still get home in time to celebrate New Year's Eve with their families. The moment of transition between the old and new year in the cool mountain air was much more special than the year-round heat of Saigon.

Enjoy pure coffee in Buon Ma Thuot.
Here, I spent time visiting friends' homes before the New Year and was warmly welcomed with smiles and precious "homemade" gifts.

Tet (Vietnamese Lunar New Year) is fast approaching in Dakmil.
During this journey, I had the opportunity to speed along the beautiful National Highway 14, crossing pine forests in Gia Nghia and Dak Song, braving thick fog from Dakmil to Buon Ma Thuot, and conquering the Phuong Hoang Pass on National Highway 26 from Dak Lak to Khanh Hoa.

The scenery along the way was stunning.

We have arrived in the coastal city of Nha Trang.
This was also the first time I had the opportunity to admire the panoramic view of Nha Trang city from the 46th floor of a hotel on Tran Phu Street and enjoy the sweet sunsets on the beach and along the Cai River.

Visit the apricot blossom garden of a private company that opens its gardens to tourists during Tet (Lunar New Year) in Khanh Hoa.
All those experiences made the 2019 Tet trip the most memorable one I've had in years.
