Announcement of the postponement of the VNG Ironman 70.3 Vietnam 2021 race.

To support COVID-19 prevention and control efforts, the VNG Ironman 70.3 Vietnam 2021 Organizing Committee announces the postponement of the event and will reschedule it for a later date.

An announcement from the VNG Ironman 70.3 Vietnam 2021 organizing committee on May 18th stated that the event would be temporarily postponed to support COVID-19 prevention and control efforts.

BTC has been working with partners VNG and IRONMAN Asia to schedule the earliest possible alternative date for this event, tentatively as follows:

  • The VNG IRONMAN 70.3 Vietnam event will take place on Sunday, August 15, 2021.
  • The Sunrise Sprint & Ironkids event will take place on Saturday, August 14, 2021.
  • Ironman Village activities, from Thursday to Sunday, August 12-15, 2021.

Previously, the 6th VNG Ironman 70.3 Vietnam race in 2021 was scheduled to officially take place on May 9, 2021. However, due to the complex developments of the Covid-19 pandemic, the organizing committee has officially announced the postponement of the race to ensure the health of the athletes.

This is the third postponement of the tournament. Previously, also with the aim of preventing the spread of Covid-19 in the community, the tournament was postponed for the first time in May 2020 and the second time in September 2020.

Information about the VNG IRONMAN 70.3 Vietnam 2021 race:

With the message "Embrace the Challenge," VNG Ironman 70.3 Vietnam 2021 will be a triathlon competition involving swimming, cycling, and running, with a total distance of 113 km. Athletes will have to complete a 1.9 km swimming relay, a 90 km cycling race, and a 21.1 km half marathon run.

The race will offer 50 spots to participate in the 2021 Ironman World Championships, taking place on September 17-18, 2021 in the USA. In addition, the Women For Tri organization is allocating an extra 25 spots to encourage and celebrate the women's triathlon community. In total, the race will offer the most World Championship spots ever, with 75 spots.
