On May 10th, the Hue Imperial Citadel Conservation Center issued a notice temporarily suspending visitor access to historical sites within the Hue Imperial Citadel Complex from 7:00 AM on May 11th, 2021, to implement COVID-19 prevention and control measures. The Center will announce the resumption of visitor access later.
In addition, the Center was also required to handle environmental sanitation and spray disinfectant at the historical sites under its management, such as the Hue Imperial Citadel and the tombs of the Nguyen emperors.

Before the Covid-19 pandemic, the Hue Imperial Citadel Complex welcomed hundreds of domestic and international visitors every day. It was one of the tourist destinations that generated significant revenue for Thua Thien Hue province.
According to current statistics, Thua Thien Hue province has recorded 3 positive cases of SARS-CoV-2. All are linked to the outbreak at Amida beauty salon (222 Phan Chu Trinh, Da Nang) and are being treated at Hue Central Hospital, Branch 2.

In recent days, Thua Thien Hue province has intensified the implementation of a series of preventive measures to quickly push back the epidemic, such as temporarily suspending non-essential business activities: bars, nightclubs, karaoke venues, internet cafes, and cinemas. Transportation services such as tourist buses, contract vehicles, and buses on the fixed route between Da Nang and Hue and vice versa will temporarily cease operation from May 9th.
Many other tourist destinations in the province have also announced a temporary suspension of visitor reception in the context of the current epidemic prevention and control: Bach Ma Village, Phuoc Tich Ancient Village, Le Ba Dang Memorial Area, Nine-Chang Waterfall, etc.
