Hoi An tests digital ticket sales for visiting the ancient town

19/11/2019

The leaders of Hoi An City (Quang Nam) have just decided to approve the project "Improving the method of selling tickets to visit Hoi An Ancient Town by using digital tickets". The project will be implemented in phase 1 from now until June 2020 and phase 2 from December 2020.

According to the People's Committee of Hoi An City, since 1995, Hoi An has served domestic and international visitors by issuing "Hoi An Ancient Town Visit Tickets", now called "Hoi An Ancient Town World Cultural Heritage Visit Tickets".

The issuance of package tickets for tourists has received consensus from tourists and the business community and has been evaluated by UNESCO Asia - Pacific as a typical model of "using relics to nurture relics". Revenue from selling entrance tickets has increased every year, reaching nearly 76.5 billion VND in 2013 and over 266 billion VND in 2018. From this source of revenue, Hoi An focuses on investing in the restoration and embellishment of architectural relics.

Hàng năm, Hội An tiếp đón rất nhiều khách du lịch

Every year, Hoi An welcomes a lot of tourists.

However, the method of selling tickets, controlling tickets, and making financial payments for the relics on the tour route is completely done manually, causing many problems that have not been completely resolved. Therefore, the most interested and highly feasible solution is to replace traditional entrance tickets for tourists with "Tourist Passport" - an ancient town entrance card or a digital entrance ticket, issued by Hoi An City.

With this project, instead of selling tickets manually as before, digital sightseeing tickets fully integrate the contents including ticket prices according to the regulations of Hoi An City People's Committee for visitors, information about tourist attractions and services in the old town. Tickets are issued in a package with optional relics including 3 attractions for tickets for Vietnamese people and 5 attractions for tickets for foreigners.
