The Arts for Climate Festival will take place from January 13-19, 2025, with the participation of over 80,000 people, including 200 European billionaires. The billionaires will arrive in Ha Long Bay on superyachts, according to the Quang Ninh provincial information portal.
According to the organizers, Ha Long Bay World Heritage Site was chosen to host the Climate Arts Festival due to its unique and highly symbolic location. It boasts not only spectacular scenery but also an ecosystem threatened by climate change and human pressure.
Halong City will host the Art for Climate Halong Bay Festival. Notably, more than 200 USD billionaires from Europe and Asia are expected to attend.
Also speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the Vietnam National UNESCO Committee, Ha Kim Ngoc, stated: "This festival is an important initiative to promote local solutions to global challenges and is a key program of Vietnam. Vietnam is committed to cooperating closely with UNESCO and relevant parties to further promote this initiative in the upcoming program."
The organizers have the idea of coordinating with local authorities to arrange for the billionaires' yachts to anchor at the beautiful sandy beaches at the foot of the mountains between Ha Long Bay and Bai Tu Long Bay.
The "Art for Climate - Ha Long Bay 2025" festival includes many vibrant and unique activities. These include a music festival featuring many world-renowned stars and artists; and workshops and educational seminars on climate change response organized by non-governmental organizations and government agencies from major countries.
This event serves as a bridge between art and human responsibility towards the environment, thereby raising awareness about protecting the planet.
The exhibitions showcase artwork and introduce both local and international artists, culminating in an engaging art auction featuring entertaining and acclaimed pieces.
A grand culinary event will be held to celebrate local and international cuisine; a high-level environmental conference will be held, including guided tours of Ha Long Bay and key discussions on marine conservation.
Ha Long Bay is a favorite destination for international tourists visiting Vietnam, especially for exploring the bay by cruise ship. Despite the impact of Typhoon No. 3, most activities in the bay have returned to normal. In the first nine months of the year, Ha Long Bay welcomed 9.2 million visitors, including 2.13 million international tourists (a 2.3-fold increase compared to the same period in 2023). Total tourism revenue is estimated at approximately 20,300 billion VND.
Ha Long is rising strongly after the devastating consequences of Typhoon Yagi.
Currently, Ha Long Bay receives 4,000 to 6,000 visitors daily, 90% of whom are international tourists. Following the impact of Typhoon Yagi, most tourism activities in the bay have returned to normal.
Summer is the peak tourist season in Ha Long. To attract tourists in the winter, Ha Long City proactively maximizes the effectiveness of its tourism and transportation infrastructure, especially the flow of cruise ship passengers through the Ha Long International Cruise Port.
