Every city in the world has its own iconic hotel: in New York it's The Plaza, in Paris it's the Ritz, in London it's Claridge's... And in Singapore it's the Raven Raffles, a luxurious Neo-Renaissance hotel, the birthplace of the famous Singapore Sling cocktail and also a temporary residence of many world-famous people such as Queen Elizabeth II, actress Elizabeth Taylor, writer Rudyard Kipling, writer Somerset Maugham, director Alfred Hitchcock, and the King of Pop Michael Jackson…
Raffles Hotel Singapore
However, for the past two years, the hotel has been closed for extensive renovations. This is not the first time the hotel has closed for this reason (Raffles closed for renovations in 1989), nor is it uncommon for older hotels (the Ritz Hotel in Paris was temporarily closed from 2012-2016). But after the success of the movie Crazy Rich Asians, and leading up to the 200th anniversary of Singapore's discovery, the closure of Raffles has left a significant void in the hearts of tourists.
But this August, Raffles Singapore officially reopened with a 10% increase in hotel rooms, from 103 to 115. The rooms are designed with brighter colors, more spacious and sophisticated interiors, and incorporate modern technologies such as tablet and smartphone connectivity. The hotel also increased room rates by 25% to 30% compared to before.
In addition, Raffles Singapore offers 10 food courts with diverse experiences, along with a retail area featuring 40 well-known brands.
