Vietnamese tourists can travel to Japan independently.

From September 7th, Vietnamese visitors entering the country will not be required to quarantine or undergo testing, and will not be obligated to travel on organized tours, as long as they have received all three doses of the vaccine.

The above information has been confirmed by the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) in Vietnam. Accordingly, the Japanese government has announced new entry regulations. Visitors from Vietnam can now travel on package tours or independently.

However, if traveling alone or not on a tour, you must still book all services such as flights and hotels through a travel agency; you are not allowed to book directly or through online websites. This regulation has eased some of the strict pandemic prevention requirements, creating a more relaxed feeling for travel to resume, but still allows the government to control travelers' itineraries.

Also from September 7th, Vietnamese citizens entering the country do not need to quarantine or be tested if they have received all three doses of the Covid-19 vaccine. If they have not received all three doses, travelers must be tested before flying and after entering the country. If they test positive, they will have to undergo treatment. If they test negative, they must quarantine for three days and are required to be tested after the third day at their place of residence and notify the authorities.

On this occasion, JNTO launched the "It's time for Japan Okaeri" campaign to update news and promote tourism. The campaign's message expresses Japan's warm and sincere welcome to Vietnamese visitors.

"Welcoming tourists back after two years of the pandemic is a major turning point representing the post-Covid-19 era. Over the past time, we have received many questions: when will Japan reopen to Vietnamese tourists? We apologize for keeping you waiting. And now, we are delighted to welcome you back," shared Yamada Takio, the Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam.

From June 10th, Japan opened its borders to international visitors. However, at that time, only visitors from green zones (Vietnam was in the yellow zone) were allowed entry, along with strict disease prevention measures. On August 31st, Prime Minister Kishida Fumio announced that the Japanese government would further ease COVID-19 restrictions. Accordingly, tourists from around the world, including Vietnam, could visit Japan as before the pandemic.
