Thanks to effective control of the Covid-19 pandemic, the People's Committee of Khanh Hoa province allowed food and beverage and accommodation services to reopen from October 1st. However, more than 10 days have passed, and most restaurants and hotels are still not open.
Ms. Le Thi Hoai Thuong, owner of a seafood restaurant on Hon Chong Street (Nha Trang City), said that although food service establishments are allowed to serve customers with Covid-19 Green Cards or Yellow Cards on-site, they must present a negative test certificate, so most have not had any customers.
"Reopening the restaurant requires signing a commitment form with the ward, not to mention testing all staff for Covid-19 and incurring many other costs. Fresh produce is difficult to preserve for long periods, so it needs to be served to customers on the same day, requiring a certain number of customers. Therefore, we will continue to close and monitor the situation before making a decision," said Ms. Thuong.

Mr. Vo Quang Hoang, Chairman of the Khanh Hoa Hotel Association, said that currently most accommodation establishments, tourist areas, and attractions in the province remain closed. The number of tourists from within the province is very low, and there are no domestic tourists due to travel difficulties. A few hotels are serving people in quarantine, but they are also facing challenges because the number of people brought to these quarantine hotels is not large.
"Currently, tourists are primarily focused on relaxation, so if tourists from other provinces come to Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa, they will mainly stay at resorts in the Bai Dai area or other secluded tourist areas. It is highly likely that hotels in the center of Nha Trang city will continue to remain closed for some time longer," Mr. Hoang said.

In addition, on the afternoon of October 11th, Mr. Nguyen Tuan Dung, Deputy Director of the Khanh Hoa Provincial Center for Conservation of Historical Relics, stated that the safety criteria for disease prevention and control at the Ponagar Tower relic and Hon Chong scenic spot have been basically met, so they will reopen to visitors.
"When the Ponagar Tower historical site and Hon Chong scenic spot reopen, locals and tourists will enter and leave via a one-way flow. Facilities and equipment for temperature checks, disinfection, health declarations, and QR code scanning will be placed in many convenient locations for visitors… In addition, there are plans to handle suspected cases of Covid-19," Mr. Dung said.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Le Thanh, Director of the Khanh Hoa Department of Tourism, said that reopening the Thap Ba Tower and Hon Chong will create attractive destinations during the period when Khanh Hoa begins to welcome domestic tourists with Green and Yellow Cards (from October 16 to November 15).
