"Immense Alone" by artist Bui Thanh Tam displays 11 works inspired by musician Do Bao's 30-year musical journey. In the exhibition, Bui Thanh Tam uses traditional art to bring reflections, dialogues and even contemplations about the universe, the origin of life. The exhibition also evokes thoughts about the liberation of ambitions, aspirations for life and great things in the mind to blend with the yin and yang of the five elements, to achieve a leisurely and carefree state like the stars in the vast universe.

Sharing about the process of creating works for the exhibition "Alone in the Vastness", artist Bui Thanh Tam said: "I often listen to Bao's music during the composing process, and also imagine the melody of Do Bao's lyrics when expressed on canvas. But when I officially started creating works for the collection 'Alone in the Vastness', I realized that everything was very different from my initial imagination. The language of music and painting are two very different states. How to express the spirit of Bui Thanh Tam, while still making viewers feel the melody of Do Bao's music when standing in front of the work? That is not a simple challenge.

Nghệ thuật là cảm nhận, mà đã là cảm nhận thì ắt sẽ để lại cho mỗi người những dòng cảm xúc hết sức riêng tư

Art is feeling, and feeling will surely leave each person with very private emotions.

When the music plays, I imagine the image of musicians floating in the vast space. In Do Bao's immortal songs such as: Rainbow in the Rainy Night, Song of June, Fishing Man, Fishing Anchor... are filled with close, familiar images, but have an invisible attraction that takes me to another dimension, both real and unreal. I find in Do Bao's music questions about freedom, love, happiness, finding light and hope. That makes me even more curious to explore that vast world and bring them to a flat surface."

The messages in Bui Thanh Tam's works are often conveyed through the actions and attitudes of human-like characters, with an Asian-influenced style of dress.

For musician Do Bao, “Immense Aloneness” evokes beautiful thoughts and inspirations about humans amidst the vastness of life and emotions. Whether writing about love, sadness, or joy, or the lonely or bustling rhythm of life, Do Bao’s music, with hundreds of songs from the past to the present, has always been in line with this perspective on life.

“Over the past 30 years, music has taught me many things. Music has taught me about love, sadness, loneliness, aspirations, maturity, and the beauty of life in its myriad forms. To me, all of these things belong to an infinite source of love that never fades in the human world. Compared to the vastness of life, we are so small and fragile. However, the miraculous thing is that each of us has a unique beauty, so unique that we cannot compare ourselves to anything,” said musician Do Bao.

Between the two artists, there exists a deep resonance about life and human life. The songs written by musician Do Bao raise questions and practical thoughts about people and life, with profound philosophical meaning, thus very close to the creative perspective of artist Bui Thanh Tam.
