The "Decoding Thang Long Imperial Citadel" night tour aims to highlight the unique cultural and historical values of the Thang Long Imperial Citadel World Heritage site and offer visitors a unique and fascinating experience.
The "Decoding Thang Long Imperial Citadel" night tour experience will last 1 hour and 30 minutes, starting from Doan Mon Gate - the entrance to the Forbidden City, which was once the residence and workplace of the king.
On the night tour, visitors will immerse themselves in the atmosphere of the ancient Imperial Citadel, witnessing royal dances performed amidst archaeological remains, and admiring precious artifacts and relics found at Thang Long Imperial Citadel in the exhibition hall themed "Thang Long Hanoi - A Thousand Years of History from the Earth". The tour of Thang Long Imperial Citadel concludes with a game to decipher the secrets of the citadel for visitors. Several representative artifacts of the citadel will be projected using lasers onto archaeological foundations or onto the ancient river for visitors to learn and decipher. This is not only a unique challenge but also helps visitors recall information they have learned during the tour. If correctly deciphered, visitors will receive meaningful souvenirs from Thang Long Imperial Citadel.
The "Decoding Thang Long Imperial Citadel" night tour, launched in April 2021 by the Thang Long Heritage Conservation Center in Hanoi in collaboration with Hanoitourist travel company, was held on weekend evenings. After a few tours, despite receiving positive feedback, the night tour had to be temporarily suspended due to the impact of the pandemic.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Yen, Head of the Guidance and Interpretation Department of the Thang Long Heritage Conservation Center in Hanoi, said that in the future, they will continue to add new services and experiences to make the tour program even more attractive and draw more tourists. This is considered a new tourism stimulus product in the development of the night economy and the recovery of Hanoi's tourism industry.
