Havana, the capital of Cuba, has been honored in the list of 7 Wonder Cities of the World, launched and selected by the New7Wonders organization.

Along with Havana (Cuba), La Paz (Bolivia), Durban (South Africa), Beirut (Lebanon), Doha (Qatar), Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), and Vigan (Philippines) are also on the list of the 7 Wonder Cities of the World.

For the people of Havana, this title is considered a particularly meaningful gift, especially since the beautiful city celebrated its 495th birthday just a few days ago.

The selection process for the 7 Wonder Cities of the World lasted over two years, with more than 1,200 cities nominated worldwide. Voting was conducted online at the New7Wonders website.

After several rounds of voting with increasingly stringent criteria, the number of candidates narrowed down to 14 cities, and the 7 most outstanding names were announced after receiving feedback from the New7Wonders team of 7 experts, along with several renowned experts in the fields of architecture, planning, media, sociology, and economics.

Seven years ago, the New7Wonders organization also held a vote for the 7 New Wonders of the World and selected the following representatives: the Christ the Redeemer statue (Brazil), the Great Wall of China, the Colosseum (Italy), the Taj Mahal (India), the Petra archaeological site (Jordan), the Chichen Itza archaeological site (Mexico), and the ancient city of Machu Picchu (Peru).

Subsequently, in 2011, New7Wonders organized a vote for the 7 Natural Wonders of the World, which included Ha Long Bay (Vietnam), the Amazon rainforest (spanning 9 countries in South America), Iguazu Falls (located between Brazil and Argentina), Jeju Island (South Korea), Komodo National Park (Indonesia), Puerto Princesa Underground River (Philippines), and Table Mountain (South Africa).
