Some basic vegetarian diets:

- Veganism: People who follow this type of vegetarian diet adhere to a vegan diet that excludes animal meat, seafood, or animal products such as eggs, milk, and honey.

- Raw vegetarianism/Raw Diet: This diet excludes all animal-derived foods and prohibits cooking above 48°C. The philosophy behind this diet is that heating food destroys nutrients and natural enzymes that aid digestion and fight chronic diseases.

- A purely fruit-based diet (Fruitarianism) is a part of a vegan diet; it is a diet consisting of approximately 75% fresh fruit and 25% nuts and seeds by weight.

- Lacto-vegetarianism: This is a vegetarian diet that excludes animal meat and eggs, but includes milk and dairy products. Lacto-vegetarian diets are very popular with many followers of Eastern religions such as Hinduism, Jainism, Buddhism, and Sikhism.

- Ovo-lacto-vegetarianism: In this type of vegetarian diet, vegetarians do not consume any meat, but they do include eggs, milk, and dairy products. Currently, this type of vegetarian diet is often adopted by those following a green lifestyle because it is a relatively easy diet to follow and provides sufficient calcium and protein.

- Ethical vegetarianism (pescetarian): People following this type of vegetarian diet can include fish and seafood in addition to plant-based foods such as dairy, eggs, beans, vegetables, fruits, and grains. According to this school of thought, sourcing seafood sustainably is beneficial for the environment, and a vegetarian diet that includes fish and seafood ensures a healthy amount of iron.

- Flexitarianism: People who follow this type of vegetarian diet may abstain from animal meat for certain periods or reduce their meat consumption in their daily diet for health reasons, or to support environmental movements.
