The Thua Thien Hue Department of Tourism has announced that the 3rd Hue International Hot Air Balloon Festival (Balloon Over Hue 2019) will be held at Ngo Mon Square from April 26th to May 2nd, with morning sessions from 5:30 AM to 9:00 AM and afternoon sessions from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM. A special hot air balloon light show will take place at 7:30 PM on April 27th.
Accordingly, the festival will bring together 10 hot air balloons from 5 countries: Japan, the Netherlands, Thailand, Malaysia, and Vietnam. According to the plan, the festival will feature three types of hot air balloons: free-flying balloons, reaching altitudes of 100-300m and a radius of 5km from the takeoff point; tethered balloons, hovering at an altitude of 50m at the anchoring point; and mini-balloons for demonstrations and photo opportunities for visitors.
The total budget for the Hue International Hot Air Balloon Festival 2019 was 3 billion VND, funded through social contributions raised by Balloons Over Hue Co., Ltd., which also raised funds from hot air balloon flight ticket sales.

The Hue International Hot Air Balloon Festival 2019 promises to bring a breath of fresh air, painting the Hue sky with a colorful tapestry of giant hot air balloons and many exciting surprises.
The Hue International Hot Air Balloon Festival will be maintained as an annual event, representing a significant cultural, sporting, and tourism activity in Thua Thien Hue province. It also serves as an opportunity to promote Hue's tourism image to international friends.
It is also known that during this period, the 8th Hue Traditional Craft Festival, with the theme "The Quintessence of Vietnamese Crafts," will take place from April 28th to May 2nd.
