The Oktoberfest festival typically attracts around 6 million visitors to Munich each year, including many foreign tourists. Here, people can indulge in long-table parties, enjoy delicious cold beers, eat sausages, biscuits, or pork, while simultaneously enjoying lively music.
Therefore, beer companies and beer lovers alike are delighted and excited about the news that the world's largest beer festival is about to reopen.
The Oktoberfest 2022 beer festival will take place from September 17th to October 3rd at the Theresienwiese fairgrounds in Munich, after two years of cancellations due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

At a press conference on April 29, Munich Mayor Dieter Reiter stated: "I have decided to ask the city authorities to allow Oktoberfest 2022 to take place without any restrictions. I would be very happy if everyone is healthy again and has no regrets about attending Oktoberfest."
Mayor Reiter also shared that this year's festival will not have a limit on the number of attendees, and the decision to reopen the festival was carefully considered and "not an easy decision" due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. He affirmed that, given the current circumstances, canceling Oktoberfest 2022 is impossible. Therefore, each citizen will decide for themselves whether they want to participate in the festival and to what extent.
Bavarian State Premier Markus Söder also affirmed that holding this traditional festival was a positive sign, especially given that the festival had been canceled for two consecutive years prior.
Beer festivals are an important economic factor not only for the city of Munich, but for the entire state of Bavaria.
Oktoberfest, the world's largest beer festival, has a history spanning over 200 years, and this is its 187th edition. Before the pandemic, the festival attracted millions of visitors from around the world every year.
In 2020 and 2021, due to COVID-19 pandemic prevention requirements, the local authorities decided not to hold the festival. This was a great disappointment for beer lovers and created immense political pressure to hold this year's beer festival, not only from politicians and brewers but also from the local community.
According to a statement from the organizers, the beer festival is an important economic factor not only for the city of Munich, but for the entire state of Bavaria.
