Australia's oldest jacaranda flower festival.

01/11/2013

Every year, when the jacaranda trees bloom, the land of kangaroos is filled with the vibrant purple of summer.

Just like the red flamboyant tree in Vietnam, the purple jacaranda is Australia's "ambassador" of summer. In Grafton, the Jacaranda Festival opened in late September and will run until November 3rd. This is the country's oldest flower festival, featuring a series of exciting activities centered around the purple jacaranda flower.

Visitors to Grafton at this time of year not only get to admire the mesmerizing wild purple hues that fill the streets, but also have the opportunity to experience and participate in many exciting events.

On October 31st (the purple jacaranda Thursday), you can enjoy a free breakfast at Market Square, then browse the creatively decorated shops for the festival, join local students in a hula hoop dance in the park, and enjoy a Jaca Lunch at the Grafton Exhibition.

On November 1st, visitors can attend the festival held on the beautiful Clarence River and experience many free entertainment activities suitable for all ages. Be patient and wait until the very end of the evening to avoid missing the spectacular fireworks display in the Grafton sky.

The schedule is packed with events on November 2nd. A parade of wooden boats in Corcora Park begins early in the morning, followed by a classic car show on Duke Street, cycling through streets lined with jacaranda trees, watching the vibrant floats parade down Prince Street, and relaxing camping in Market Square. On November 3rd, the festival concludes with a group run through Caramana Park, along the Rogan Bridge to SW Grafton.

According to observers, jacaranda trees in Australia bloom earlier each year. However, the schedule for the Jacaranda Festival remains unchanged.
