Floating fruit market
Lasting for 3 summer months, from May 30, 2018 to August 31, 2018. The "Floating Fruit Market" at Suoi Tien is an impressive activity, most remembered by tourists at the Southern Fruit Festival. Visitors can enjoy the fresh, cool, nutritious taste of hundreds of ripe early-season fruits, at prices 20% to 30% cheaper than the market for three summer months. Over 13 festival seasons, nearly 20,000 tons of Vietnamese fruits have been consumed at the "Floating Fruit Market".
Famous specialty fruit brands such as: An Phuoc plum, Chin Hoa durian, Xuong longan, Ha Chau strawberry, Ba Ro Green Skin grapefruit, Hau plum, Hoa Loc mango, Thach Kiet longan, Que longan, honey orange, palm sugar, Sa Li guava, pink mango, water coconut... contribute to creating richness, diversity and raising the scale of the "Floating Fruit Market" in 2018.
The 10th "Southern Safe and Delicious Fruit" Contest
The 10th “Southern Safe and Delicious Fruit” Contest took place on June 1, 2018, co-organized by the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Ho Chi Minh City - Southern Fruit Institute and Suoi Tien Cultural Tourism Joint Stock Company. Throughout 9 seasons, the contest has always received enthusiastic support from farmers across the Southeast, gathering varieties of specialty fruits, big, delicious, beautiful and ensuring food safety criteria, selected by many gardeners from 21 provinces and cities to bring to the contest.
The "Farmer Quiz" program in the contest will create a lot of fun for visitors, with many prizes in the Safe and Delicious Fruits contest and the Rare and Strange Fruits Exhibition being awarded to gardeners. In particular, the meaningful highlight of this year's contest is to honor gardeners who have won awards continuously for 10 years in the Southern Delicious Fruits contest.
Fruit sculpture art
The competition has been the main activity of the festival since 1997. Visitors will be able to admire the delicate and vivid fruit sculptures created by talented artisans. The “Fruit Sculpture Art Competition” contributes to honoring, preserving and promoting the quintessence of Southern culture.
In addition to the theme of Vietnamese culture - tourism - history, this year the contest expanded the theme of "Smart City" with the aim of encouraging artisans to apply scientific and technological advances to their works, promoting creativity and aiming to improve the quality of life to become more civilized and modern.
“Giant Fruit” parade combines fashion show with fruit motifs
The “Giant Fruit” parade show with the Flower Fairies, Fruit Gods… splendidly showing off their beauty in impressive fruit fashion collections, welcoming visitors to the “Suoi Tien Fruit Kingdom” with a jubilant summer dance. The parade show takes place on the main street of Suoi Tien throughout the summer, gathering hundreds of professional actors with 6 convoys of splendidly and vividly decorated cars.
The “Giant Fruit” parade will certainly bring visitors moments of visual enjoyment during this year’s festival. In addition, visitors can also admire the art of pottery, calligraphy, wood carvings, stone art, decorative furniture, figurines, Vietnamese tea ceremony, etc.
Display of agricultural tools from different regions with the theme "Vietnam Vitality"
This is a new cultural exhibition, appearing for the first time at the Southern Fruit Festival. The exhibition depicts the cultural and tourism picture of the three regions of Vietnam through: a creative collection of straw models, a collection of unique farming tools and an impressive collection of costumes from the three regions of North - Central - South.
The exhibition is an opportunity for visitors, especially foreign visitors and students, to explore the rich cultural identity of the three regions of Vietnam, honoring the beauty of the hard work of the Vietnamese people.
Demonstration of the art of mixing fruit drinks
The exciting and attractive fruit drink mixing performance program was performed by the Ho Chi Minh City Bartender Association on the opening day of the Southern Fruit Festival (June 1). Visitors will be able to admire the interesting performances of professional bartenders and enjoy free fruit juice.
Fruit dishes - Introducing Suoi Tien's record dishes
Introducing the dish “Thirty-two Longevity Fruits” made from 32 types of fruit which achieved a Vietnamese record in 2012 and dishes made from fruit by Phu Dong Suoi Tien restaurant.
Program "Experience Vietnamese Fruit" and "Vietnam Fruit Week"
“Experience Vietnamese Fruits”: From June 1 to June 7, 2018, guests staying at 4 and 5 star hotels in Ho Chi Minh City will be invited to enjoy fresh fruit or fruit juice when checking in. Domestic and international tourists will be guided to participate in the festival.
“Vietnam Fruit Week”: From June 1 to June 7, 2018, supermarket systems will arrange display areas for Vietnamese fruit specialties to introduce to tourists and consumers, integrating instructions on how to distinguish safe and unsafe fruits in the display area; promoting and reducing the price of Vietnamese fruits.
