Dak Nong organizes the 2nd Vietnam Brocade Culture Festival

On the morning of November 10, the People's Committee of Dak Nong province held a press conference to promote the 2nd Vietnam Brocade Culture Festival and the Ceremony to receive the title of Dak Nong UNESCO Global Geopark, which will take place in late November.

Following the success of the 1st Vietnam Brocade Culture Festival, Dak Nong province in coordination with the Central Ministries and Branches continues to organize the 2nd Vietnam Brocade Culture Festival. The organization of the Festival aims to introduce and promote to domestic and foreign tourists the traditional patterns and costumes of ethnic minorities, the potential and strengths of tourism development and the cultural heritage values ​​of Dak Nong's ethnic groups in the process of innovation, integration and development.

Attending the press conference to promote the 2nd Vietnam Brocade Culture Festival were guests from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism such as: Mr. Ta Quang Dong - Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Mr. Ha Van Sieu - Deputy General Director of Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, Mr. Ngo Hai Duong - Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Tourism Newspaper; and representatives from Dak Nong province such as: Ms. Ton Ngoc Hanh - Vice Chairman of Dak Nong Provincial People's Committee, Mr. Pham Dinh Tuan - Director of Department of Planning and Investment, Mr. Tran Van Nam - Director of Department of Information and Communications...

With the theme “Cultural and Tourism Festival - Quintessence of the Orient”, this year’s Festival will be an opportunity for artisans and mass actors to exchange experiences; thereby encouraging artisans and the community to raise awareness in preserving and promoting the quintessence of ethnic patterns.

Some of the outstanding activities at this year's Festival include: exhibition of brocade cultural space, experimentation of Vietnamese brocade cultural space, performance of "Fashion Show - brocade"... In particular, the ceremony to receive the title of UNESCO Dak Nong Global Geopark will be included in the opening program on the night of November 24, 2020. In addition, the series of activities also includes the following typical events: Semi-finals and finals of the Miss Vietnam Tourism Contest 2020 in Dak Nong province, Festival of lights and hot air balloons, Charity activities in some districts in the province.

The 2nd Vietnam Brocade Culture Festival in 2020 in Dak Nong province was organized on a national scale. It invited artisans and actors from Laos, Cambodia, Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia, Japan and Korea who are living and working in Ho Chi Minh City to participate. At the same time, up to now, there have been registrations from 14 provinces and cities including Ha Giang, Tuyen Quang, Cao Bang, Yen Bai, Bac Ninh, Thua Thien Hue, Quang Ngai, Kom Tum, Dak Lak, Binh Phuoc, Tien Giang, Bac Lieu, An Giang and Dak Nong.

In the past, brocade weaving of ethnic minorities in Dak Nong province was a traditional craft, developed very early, widely in villages and hamlets and played a very important role in cultural and spiritual life and family economic development. Currently, in Dak Nong province, weaving activities are still maintained to serve daily life and serve tourists.
