Attending the event were representatives from the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists, the Hanoi Art Photography Association, representatives from the Ministry of Information and Communications, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, award-winning photographers, photographers and contributors to Heritage magazine, representatives from sponsors Ford Vietnam and Silk Path Grand Hotel & Resort, and representatives from press and media agencies.
This is the 9th time the Heritage magazine has successfully organized the photo contest.
With experience in organizing annual competitions, this is the 9th time Heritage magazine has successfully held the Photo Contest. After 4 months of launching (from April 1st to July 31st, 2023), the Organizing Committee received a large number of entries, including 186 photo sets, 536 cover photos (Cover Photo Category), and 19 single photos (Single Photo Category).
The encouraging aspect is that, despite the limitations on field trips for photographers in the past two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the quality of the entries was quite consistent. Works focusing on cultural customs, heritage, and festivals remained dominant, reflecting the meticulous research and preparation of the authors. The judging panel had to carefully consider their choices to select the deserving winners. As a result, the Photo Series category awarded 7 prizes, including one Special Prize, one First Prize, and 5 Consolation Prizes. The Cover Photo category had only 5 Consolation Prizes, and the Single Photo category included one Vietnam Airlines Moment Award.
In addition, the Heritage Photo Tour 2023 was successfully held in August, with the support of transportation sponsor Ford Vietnam, accommodation sponsor Silk Path Grand Sapa Resort & Spa in Sapa, and Silk Path Grand Hue Hotel & Spa in Hue. Nearly 200 works were created by 7 photographers – close collaborators of the magazine – during the 7-day trip from Sapa to Hue. 30 of the best photos were selected for exhibition. These are the creative and impressive shots of the photographers – close collaborators of Heritage magazine: Le Viet Khanh, Vinh Dav, Nguyen Phong, Nguyen Quang Ngoc (Tonkin), Haipiano Nguyen, Khanh Phan, and Tran Giap.
Photography awards were presented to the authors.
The Heritage Photography Award - Heritage Journey 2023 concluded with the Award Ceremony and the opening of the Heritage Journey 2023 exhibition. This event honored the authors, artists, partners, and sponsors who have accompanied the Photography Award throughout its 10-year journey of development and innovation. This year's Photography Award and Exhibition 2023 also holds special significance as a unique event marking the 30th anniversary of Heritage Magazine (1993-2023).
In particular, with the title of "The winner of Asia's Leading Inflight Magazine," which Heritage Magazine recently received as a World Travel Award (the world's leading award in the tourism industry, honoring outstanding achievements in all fields. The World Travel Awards are considered the "Oscars of the global tourism industry") in early September, the annual Heritage Photo Tour has also made a significant contribution to the source of photographic materials, helping Heritage's publications to become even better in quality, fulfilling its mission of promoting the image of Vietnam to the world.
The "Vietnam Airlines Moment" award was given to the work "Landing" by Nguyen Ngoc Thien.
The Heritage Journey 2023 exhibition will be open from September 22nd to 26th, 2023 at 93 Dinh Tien Hoang Street, Hanoi.
