Despite the harsh winter temperatures, photographer Tran Linh embarked on a journey to capture the ice and snow, filled with exciting memories: "Fansipan is the highest mountain in Vietnam, so I really hoped to experience all the natural moments there, especially the nighttime moments on the mountaintop in very cold weather with ice and snow."
This trip left Tran Linh with a wide range of emotions. One of the memories he probably cherishes most from his journey is that his drone was never returned to its owner.
“The weather conditions on the summit of Fansipan that day were extremely harsh, with freezing temperatures and strong winds. I took off just to check the cloud cover, pressed return home to descend, put the remote control in my backpack, and attached the camera. When I looked back, the drone was already 1 km away and completely disoriented in the fog. I turned on the maps and controlled the camera according to the map's instructions, but the technology malfunctioned at that moment. The battery was showing 25%, and I tried to descend to get a better look until I saw the cable car, but the connection was completely lost and the drone disappeared,” the photographer shared.
Despite the harsh winter temperatures, photographer Tran Linh embarked on a journey to capture the essence of ice, filled with many memorable experiences.
The icy landscape of Fansipan captivates and amazes anyone who sees it, leaving them mesmerized by its shimmering beauty, as if straight out of a fairy tale. Amidst the ethereal mist, the majestic peak of Fansipan stands proudly in the Hoang Lien Son mountain range, both magnificent and poetic. Especially when a rare ray of sunlight pierces through the fluffy white clouds, the icy surface sparkles like diamonds.
Traveling from Hanoi to Sa Pa, then taking the cable car to the summit of Fansipan, the male photographer arrived at 3 PM, just in time to fully admire the sunset over the "roof of Indochina." That night, he rested there so he could "hunt" for the frosty moments at night and early the next morning.

According to forecasts, this area will experience several more frosts this year.
"While having dinner at 8 PM, I saw the window panes were completely frozen over, so I immediately abandoned my meal and rushed to the summit of Fansipan to photograph the icy scene at night under the bright moonlight," photographer Tran Linh confided.
Waking up at dawn, Tran Linh traveled to the summit of Fansipan to photograph the ice formations, as the temperature was very low at that time. Speaking with Travellive, the photographer said: “At sunrise, the sunlight illuminates the surrounding landscapes such as the ancient rhododendron trees, the Amitabha Buddha statue, the Avalokiteśvara Buddha statue… The natural light highlights the white color of the ice, helping to fully capture the scenery of Fansipan peak.”

According to Tran Linh, the high altitude of Fansipan means the air is quite thin, making breathing more difficult and causing fatigue during physical activity.
