According to Mr. Hoang Viet Trung, Director of the Hue Imperial Citadel Conservation Center, as the demand for travel increased after the pandemic, the center coordinated with the Department of Tourism to welcome large groups of tourists, connecting with travel agencies to enhance the promotion and introduction of the Hue Imperial Citadel Complex, and stimulate tourism.
During the September 2nd holiday, many special activities will take place in the province, including: the 2022 Thuy Bieu Green Tea Festival with the theme "Thuy Bieu Green Tea - The Flavor of Hue" from September 1st to 4th; the 2022 Hue Lion Dance Festival held at Ngo Mon Square on the nights of September 3rd and 4th; a large-scale Lion and Dragon Dance performance and Mid-Autumn Lantern Procession on the streets of Hue city on September 6th; an exhibition of traditional Mid-Autumn lanterns at the Hue City Cultural and Information Center from September 3rd to 8th; and a traditional boat race with 9 competing teams, taking place at 6:00 AM on September 2nd on the Perfume River.
Vietnamese citizens visiting historical sites within the Hue Imperial Citadel Complex on September 2nd will receive 100% free admission.
It is projected that during the 6 days from August 31st to September 5th, the total number of visitors to Thua Thien Hue will reach approximately 60,000, with estimated revenue from tourism services reaching 50 billion VND. The number of overnight stays is estimated at 25,000 (including nearly 4,500 international visitors), with an average hotel occupancy rate of around 53%. On September 1st and 2nd, hotel occupancy rates exceeded 70%, with some 3-4 star hotels in the center of Hue City and resort hotels reaching over 90%.
The Thua Thien Hue Department of Tourism announced that it has sent a document to tourism businesses in the area, requesting them to ensure prices comply with regulations and to reach prior agreements with customers if any adjustments are necessary. During this period, the Department has also established an inter-agency team to inspect and monitor tourism activities before, during, and after the holiday.
In addition to offering free admission to the Hue Imperial Citadel Complex for Vietnamese tourists on September 2nd, the "City Tour - Heritage Journey of Hue Imperial Citadel" with 12 stops and the "Hue Night Sightseeing Tour" by double-decker bus will also have their tickets discounted by 50% on September 2nd.
According to the Hue Ancient Citadel Conservation Center, since the flexible reopening policy after the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of visitors to the heritage sites within the Hue Ancient Citadel Complex has increased sharply, especially during holidays. On May 1st alone, there were 13,418 visitors to Hue's historical sites, generating revenue of over 1.9 billion VND.
