An unidentified source said: "The two pilots grabbed each other by the neck. They appeared to have hit or slapped each other. The noise attracted the attention of the crew members." Other reports said one of the two pilots "took a piece of wood to the face" during the fight.

According to Insider, a crew member had to stay in the cockpit to make sure the two stopped fighting.

In an official statement, Air France confirmed that the incident was resolved quickly and did not affect the safety of the flight. At the same time, the airline also suspended the relevant people pending a final decision.

The incident was not referred to France's civil aviation safety investigation agency, the Bureau d'Enquetes et d'Analyses (BEA), because it did not pose a risk to the flight.
