Before each trip, we are usually excited and imagine everything going smoothly. But there are many situations in certain places that we will never forget.

Indian slums aren't that scary.

The exact date of the establishment of the slums (or slumdogs) in Mumbai (India) is unknown. They only truly became known to the world thanks to the hit film Slumdog Millionaire, released over 10 years ago. The film awakened the world to another world that exists there.

Mumbai is one of the largest economies in this South Asian nation. Part of Mumbai resembles a miniature Europe. Another part is dilapidated. Within that dilapidation lie dozens of slums and millions of people living there.

Slum Dharavi is one of the largest slums in the world and the largest in Southeast Asia. It covers an area of approximately 2 square kilometers.2With just over a million people living together, Dharavi is considered one of the largest slums in the world. All these figures make Dharavi one of the most densely populated areas globally, where neighbors can easily run into each other just by stepping outside their homes.

The slums are small, cramped, smelly, and full of rats. This is a common characteristic of slums in India.

Unlike the typical slum setting, the people here are always cheerful, laughing and talking a lot. Even more joyful is when they hold a local religious festival.

Most Chinese people don't use social media much.

Before coming to China, many Vietnamese people have probably already tried a wide variety of Chinese dishes. Chinese cuisine is diverse. However, all of them have been adapted to suit Vietnamese tastes.

Some dishes in mainland China are extremely spicy, and mainlanders don't commonly use Facebook. This is something that those who can't handle spicy food should always keep in mind when traveling abroad. When the waiter brings out a super spicy, intensely flavorful hot pot, you have to put aside the taste and just eat until you're full and finished.

In China, social media is quite restricted.

Furthermore, one of the common problems tourists encounter when traveling in China is internet access restrictions imposed by the local government, known as the "Great Firewall of China." Social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube, as well as foreign news websites, are blocked by the government. However, in China, only domestic apps with similar functionality to global apps are used. To access these, a VPN is required.

Not all parts of Europe are glamorous.

Europe is currently a highly sought-after destination for many tourists. In fact, many people don't even set aside visits to countries near Vietnam as a priority; their only wish is to visit Europe at least once in their lifetime.

It's easy to see through social media and movies that Europe is very beautiful, magnificent, a place of unattainable wealth. What we see about Europe is often opulent, and a part of Western behavior has become a standard of civilized people – this is a matter of history.

If you visit countries like France, Belgium, and Italy, you'll be truly overwhelmed by their architectural masterpieces. Even the smallest paving stones are meticulously laid. The shopping practices in supermarkets are impeccable; the process is very efficient and there are no unnecessary steps.

Europe also has street vendors, not just supermarkets.

Everything seems fine until you get to the areas further from the city center. The scenery is completely different. And inevitably, you'll encounter problems like pickpocketing and theft when traveling on public transport in European cities. These criminals seem very professional, their movements decisive and quick.

Some places presented a rather shabby scene. These are sights that no tourist could imagine seeing in European countries. Europe also has street vendors, not just modern supermarkets and convenience stores. Prices at these types of shops are usually cheaper.
