FlightAware has just released a list of international airports with the lowest cancellation rates during the summer period from May 27, 2022 to July 31, 2022, after compiling data from over 26,000 destinations. Among them, Tan Son Nhat Airport is listed with a cancellation rate of less than 0.3% (the lowest in the world).
Also included in this list are Manila Ninoy Aquino Airport (Philippines), Changi (Singapore), Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen (Turkey), São Paulo-Guarulhos (São Paulo, Brazil), Qatar's Hamad (Doha, Qatar) and Jeju (South Korea).
Conversely, the top 10 international airports with the most flight cancellations include: Shenzhen Bao'an (China - 7.9%); Newark Liberty (USA - 7.4%); LaGuardia (USA - 7%); Toronto Pearson (Canada - 6.5%); Soekarno Hatta (Indonesia - 6.2%); Sydney Kingsford Smith (Australia - 5.9%); Guangzhou Baiyun (China - 5.2%); Ronald Reagan Washington (USA - 5%); Chongqing Jiangbei (China - 4.6%); and Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (Netherlands - 3.9%).
Tan Son Nhat is among the airports with the lowest flight cancellation rates at 0.3%.
Additionally, FlightAware ranked the airports with the most delayed flights, with Toronto Pearson in Canada topping the list with a rate of 52.5%. Tan Son Nhat is one of the two busiest airports in Vietnam, and during the recent summer peak season, it continuously received a record number of flights. Tan Son Nhat has a designed capacity of 28 million passengers per year, but since 2017, the airport has handled 36 million passengers, 38.3 million in 2018, and over 40 million passengers in 2019.
In the first six months of 2022, Tan Son Nhat Airport recorded nearly 14.8 million passengers, reaching 52.9% of the 2022 annual target. On average, the airport served 98,000 to 100,000 passengers per day. The plan for the whole year of 2022 is for Tan Son Nhat Airport to serve over 28.3 million passengers.
