Although the new version of "The Lion King" uses 100% CGI, the filmmakers drew inspiration from real-life locations when designing the landscapes. Below are some of the locations that contributed to the world of Simba the lion.

The new version of "The Lion King" has received much praise for its outstanding graphics. Despite using virtual reality technology, the magnificent and majestic scenes of Africa greatly inspired the filmmakers' creativity.

The Maasai Mara National Reserve served as the inspiration for Pride Land.

Maasai Mara, located in Narok, Kenya, is world-renowned for its significant population of Masai lions (also known as East African lions), African leopards, and Tanzanian cheetahs, and especially for the spectacular migration of zebras, Thomson's gazelles, and wildebeest to and from the Serengeti grasslands between July and October each year, known as the Great Migration.

And the rock formations surrounding the Chyulu hills, along with the landscape of Borana, Kenya, formed the basis for the design of Pride Rock.

The Chyulu Hills not only boast spectacular scenery worth visiting but are also a haven for wildlife such as buffalo, elephants, deer, and elk.

Mount Kenya is an extinct volcano in central Kenya, located just south of the equator. At 5,199 meters, it is the second highest mountain in Africa, after Kilimanjaro. Mount Kenya boasts a rich ecosystem of grasslands, lowland vegetation, and dense rainforests extending up to 3,200 meters. Animals that inhabit the area include rhinoceroses, elephants, and buffalo. The surrounding area is protected within Mount Kenya National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

And the waterfall at Bologare National Park provided the inspiration for the romantic scene between Simba and Nala.

Bologare, located east of the valley near Nairobi Falls, was created to preserve the hilly terrain, grasslands, and tropical rainforests, and is also home to endangered large mammals such as the African lion, African elephant, Cape buffalo, African leopard, white rhino, and black rhino.
