On March 5th, Mr. Phan Ngoc Tho, Chairman of the People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue province, issued a directive to the Hue Imperial Citadel Relics Conservation Center to waive 100% of entrance fees for women wearing traditional Vietnamese ao dai dresses at historical sites for three days. The implementation period is from March 7th to March 9th.

Previously, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue province had sent an open letter to schools in the province regarding the campaign to encourage wearing traditional ao dai costumes.
The campaign aims to honor the cultural identity and traditional beauty of the Vietnamese ao dai, celebrate the graceful and gentle beauty of women in the ancient capital region, and create a positive image in workplace culture.

The People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue province has stipulated that all female officials, civil servants, and employees of administrative agencies and public service units in the province will wear traditional ao dai (Vietnamese long dress) every Monday starting from September 2018.
According to the Thua Thien Hue Provincial People's Committee, this initiative demonstrates appreciation for the beauty of women, as well as celebrating International Women's Day on March 8th; at the same time, it expresses the hope of bringing the image of the traditional ao dai back to its golden age.
Reportedly, following a proposal from the Department of Science and Technology, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee has also agreed in principle to organize a provincial-level scientific conference on the theme "Promoting Hue's cultural values in building the Hue ao dai brand" in mid-March 2019 in Hue City.
