According to the director of Hai Dang Nha Trang Shipping Agency Co., Ltd., from now until the end of 2024, only 3/10 international cruises that Hai Dang Nha Trang Company acts as an agent to pick up ships to Nha Trang have not been canceled. Among them, there is a trip expected to bring tourists from other countries to Cam Ranh International Port (Khanh Hoa, in about 10 days).
The reason for the cancellation of receiving the above international ships is because Nha Trang Port Joint Stock Company has announced "cancelling all registered plans and temporarily stopping receiving international passenger ships from September 20, 2024, to ensure absolute safety for people and vehicles, to minimize unfortunate incidents that may occur and to serve repairs".
According to Nha Trang Port Joint Stock Company, the inspection results show that the structure of the 10,000 DWT wharf of Nha Trang Port has been damaged, affecting security and safety during use. Therefore, this wharf is no longer qualified to receive passenger ships. The port is currently repairing the wharf and has not yet determined the time of resumption of operations.
The incident has a major impact on the local tourism industry.
Many businesses and agents specializing in welcoming cruise passengers are also considering canceling their schedules to Nha Trang from now until the end of 2024 and all of 2025. According to the Khanh Hoa Provincial Department of Tourism, Nha Trang plans to welcome 44 cruise ships this year. However, because Nha Trang port has been under repair for too long, so far it has only welcomed 27 trips with more than 55,500 passengers.
