With 123 years of history, Heritage Wing stands as a witness to both the glorious and the turbulent times of the Metropole Hanoi Hotel. In its fourth renovation, Heritage Wing presents a vibrant contemporary work of art, continuing to shine brightly as a "precious gem" in the heart of Hanoi.
The Heritage Wing, the iconic and most important historic building of the Metropole Hanoi Hotel, has just undergone a 21-month renovation, giving it a brand new look. Throughout its 123-year history, the Heritage Wing has only undergone three major renovations: in 1992, 2004, and 2023.
Opened in 1901, the Heritage Wing was further expanded in 1908 with the addition of a 22-room building overlooking the Frog Garden. Since then, the Heritage building has hosted numerous heads of state, royal families, as well as actors, writers, musicians, and many other world-renowned figures.
The Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi recently held a reopening ceremony for its Heritage Wing after a long period of comprehensive renovation of the historic building.
This time, the Heritage Wing of the Metropole Hanoi Hotel has been given a new look with 94 standard rooms; 6 Metropole suites and 3 Legendary suites named after famous figures such as Charlie Chaplin, Somerset Maugham, and Graham Greene; 40 Grand Luxury rooms and 54 Luxury rooms.
Mr. George Koumendakos, General Manager of Metropole Hanoi, said: “The Heritage Wing building is intrinsically linked to Hanoi’s history, witnessing both the glorious and somber moments of the Metropole Hotel. We have strived to offer guests a more refined, elegant, and luxurious space while preserving the heritage and cultural values that have existed since 1901.”

The entire interior, including the bed, desk, coffee table, and sofa in the living room, is designed with refined elegance. The bathroom is tiled with Italian marble and equipped with high-end amenities such as a bathtub, shower, lighting system, artwork, and furnishings. The toilet uses the latest model from the Toto brand.
The carpets in the building's common areas are custom-designed, inspired by Vietnamese cultural symbols such as conical hats, rattan weaving, and classic decorative motifs from the Indochina period. Curtains, upholstery, and contemporary artwork serve as colorful accents while creating a bright and airy atmosphere in all the rooms.
The Charlie Chaplin Room is named after the famous comedian Charlie Chaplin, who stayed at the Metropole Hanoi during his honeymoon in 1936.
The ceiling above the reception area is fitted with artistic antique-style mirrors, and dark rectangular wooden wall frames create a focal point in the waiting area. Soft lighting creates a warm and inviting atmosphere.

Modern technological equipment includes IPTV internet television, mood lighting, and a customizable air conditioning system tailored to space and usage needs. A Wi-Fi router is installed in each room to ensure maximum internet speed. The lighting system has three modes: “work,” “relax,” and “full,” along with a button for adjusting nighttime lighting.
