To use this free plan, users must be over 18 years old and have never created a Netflix account before. Users need to download or upgrade to the latest version of Netflix to subscribe without needing to enter credit card information or payment plans.
This new service package will limit certain content and features. Specifically, users will only be able to watch films produced by Netflix; many titles from other producers will be locked and require an upgrade to a paid plan to watch.
Nevertheless, this free platform also features many popular series and movies from around the world, such as Squid Game, Money Heist, El Camino (the movie version of the hit series Breaking Bad)... which will still be available on the free version.
At the top of the Vietnamese film section, the paid version includes films such as Hai Phượng, Song Lang, Mùi Cỏ Cháy, and many other popular commercial titles. Meanwhile, the free package currently only includes the film Mắt Biếc by director Victor Vũ.
Currently, users of the free plan cannot download movies to watch offline; however, this feature may only be locked for a few months, after which Netflix will allow it to be used like paid plans. Additionally, users of this plan will not experience ads while watching movies. The free Netflix plan is currently only available on Android devices, not for iOS or smart TVs. When logging in on other platforms, the app will display an error.
Some features found in the paid version are also available in the free plan, such as the ability to create up to 5 profiles (shared user profiles per account), including profiles for young children, as well as the ability to set a passcode…
The film Dreamy Eyes by director Victor Vũ is available on Netflix.
Globally, Netflix launched a similar free trial package in Kenya in September 2021. In the Asian market, Vietnam is the first country to test this service.
According to statistics, Netflix currently has 214 million paid subscribers in over 190 countries. It is also one of the most popular movie streaming services in Vietnam. However, Netflix's subscription fees are quite high compared to domestic streaming services such as FPT Play, Galaxy Play, and VieOn.
