Previously, Nha Trang City People's Committee had issued a document agreeing to allow Nha Trang Bay Management Board to carry out procedures to announce the closure of the inland waterway port of Cau Da tourist wharf according to regulations.
Cau Da tourist wharf, owned by Nha Trang Bay Management Board, has been licensed by Nha Trang Maritime Port Authority to operate as an inland waterway wharf.

In May 2020, Nha Trang City People's Committee announced to stop transporting tourists to visit Nha Trang Bay at Cau Da tourist wharf, moving to Nha Trang tourist wharf (Vinh Truong ward); waterway vehicles serving civilian purposes operating at Cau Da tourist wharf will switch to operating at wharf No. 1 of Nha Trang port.
Mr. Huynh Binh Thai - Head of Nha Trang Bay Management Board said: "Officially from today, Cau Da tourist wharf will stop operating, boats anchored on the water will soon find a plan to relocate and arrange. People living on islands in Nha Trang Bay can use Phu Quy port, An Vien urban area, Vinh Truong ward to move".

Mr. Thai added that the Cau Da tourist wharf will be planned by the Nha Trang City People's Committee in a zoning plan (scale 1/2,000) for the Nha Trang port area and surrounding areas in Vinh Nguyen and Vinh Truong wards to concretize the decision of the Ministry of Transport approving the detailed planning of the South Central Coast seaport group (group 4) for the period up to 2020, with a vision to 2030.
In particular, Nha Trang port will be built into a seaport exclusively for tourism, able to receive international passenger ships with a capacity of up to 225,000 GT.
