Despite airlines continuously increasing capacity, high ticket prices have made travel unattractive to the public. Instead, many have opted to travel by train and bus, resulting in some intercity routes currently being 80-95% fully booked.

Currently, many trains and flights to major tourist destinations are almost sold out. On the other hand, road travel seems to be relatively unaffected, but is also expected to become crowded during the peak days of the upcoming holiday season. This reflects people's eagerness to explore and relax after a long period of stagnation due to the pandemic.

According to forecasts from Hanoi Bus Station Joint Stock Company, the peak passenger volume at Giap Bat Bus Station will be on the afternoon of April 26th and throughout April 27th, with approximately 20,000 passengers per day, a 350% increase compared to normal days. The bus station is characterized by short-distance routes, with passengers mainly traveling during the day. The increase in passenger volume is concentrated primarily on routes to Nam Dinh, Thai Binh, Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa, and other destinations.

Forecasts indicate that passenger traffic from bus stations in Hanoi will mainly concentrate on short routes and peak during the initial peak times of the holiday. Afterward, passenger numbers are expected to gradually decrease in the following days, returning to levels comparable to normal days and not exceeding the acceptable capacity of buses operating according to schedules on those routes.

To meet the travel needs of people during this year's holiday season, Hanoi Railway Transport Joint Stock Company is providing approximately 60,000 tickets, including both extra trains and regular trains. Saigon Railway Transport Joint Stock Company is also offering a similar number of tickets to serve passengers.

Previously, to meet travel demand during the holiday season, in addition to daily trains, the railway sector operated an extra 34 trains from Saigon Station to Phan Thiet, Nha Trang, Quy Nhon, Quang Ngai and vice versa. Due to the high demand for tickets, many trains had extra seats added. However, currently, there are not many seats left, so Saigon Railways stated that they are coordinating and organizing additional services to meet the travel needs of the people.
