Old brick kilns in Quang Nam

When people think of tourism in Quang Nam, they often think of Hoi An ancient town or Cu Lao Xanh island. However, in Quang Nam, there is another check-in spot that is both rustic and reminiscent of a famous work of art.Chi PheoThat's an old brick kiln located about 5 km from the center of the old town, in Vinh Nam village, Duy Vinh commune, Duy Xuyen district, Quang Nam province. Previously, this place was an abandoned brick kiln situated beside a small branch of the Thu Bon River, surrounded by vast, lush green rice fields.

Having lain abandoned in the middle of the rice fields for nearly 20 years, the old brick kiln had deteriorated over time. Therefore, at one point, tourists were prohibited from taking photos there to avoid unfortunate accidents. However, recently, the brick kiln has been repaired and integrated into a farm tourism model, attracting many visitors because it evokes memories of the work "Chí Phèo" by writer Nam Cao. In that work, the brick kiln is where Chí Phèo was abandoned, leading him into a life full of tragedy.

The brick kilns in Quang Nam now have a new look, no longer dilapidated and run-down as before. The kilns have been restored but still retain their old charm, resembling a box with a curved arched entrance. Around the kiln are a series of steps that run along the body of the kiln to the top. You can climb these steps to reach the top, enjoying panoramic views of the clear blue sky, lush green rice fields, and a beautiful, peaceful branch of the Thu Bon River. From the kiln, a small bamboo bridge connects to a café in the middle of the rice fields called "Old Brick Kiln," where you can spend time enjoying a drink and immersing yourself in the tranquil countryside scenery.

Here, you can take photos from any angle you like, standing on the bamboo bridge, under the brick kiln, or climbing the steps to admire the view. Sunrise is the best time to capture beautiful photos, with a clear blue sky, cool air, and not too much harsh sunlight. Additionally, the sunset, with its golden rays spreading across the rice fields, creates a contemplative beauty for the scenery around the old brick kiln.
