Designer Duc Hung brings Ao Dai to America to perform

May 15th was chosen as Ao Dai Day, this is the idea of ​​Vietnamese Americans living in California and other places in the US who want to contribute and share their cultural heritage with the city of San Jose, Orange County and many other communities in the US.

This year’s “Ao Dai Festival” is the fairy tale of Son Tinh and Thuy Tinh with performances of traditional Vietnamese music and Ao Dai collections by many famous fashion designers. Participating in the festival are designers from Vietnam and designers residing in the US, each bringing to the festival Ao Dai with their own personal characteristics. Everyone is very excited and looking forward to “Ao Dai Day” next season.

The Vietnamese Ao Dai is a symbol of aesthetic culture and the pride of generations of Vietnamese people, so to honor the diversity of American society, the Vietnamese American community organizes a community event called the Ao Dai Festival every two years.

The Vietnamese American community hopes this will be a special day for Californians to share their community's cultural heritage by wearing the Vietnamese ao dai.

Resolution No. 73 of the California State Senate affirms that this body unanimously approved the draft resolution submitted by a group of 3 senators, and decided that from May 15, 2016 onwards, May 15 of each year will be Ao Dai Day in California.
